Got off of sertraline and trying lexapro

Hi guys I was on sertraline for about 1yr then decided to stop 2 months ago because I felt good but maybe 2 weeks ago I started to get a worried feeling in my stomach and chest. So I went to the doctors and he suggested lexapro as it would have less side effects off sertraline. So today I started 5mg of lexapro so let’s see how this goes.

Good luck ! I love my lexapro. I was on sertatriline as well for a bit. But it made me very sick. I’m on 20 mg of lexapro. It makes me tired but I no longer have anxiety attacks.

Nice. Yes sertraline had very bad side effects. So I told my doctor I wanted to try something else so he put me on lexapro. I’m on 5mg starting today. So far I feel ok. What side effects you had when first starting lex ?

Very tired. A little stomach upset. And slightly dizzy. But it went away within about 3 days.

Hi Sean. I was on 10 mg for 3 weeks then bumped up to 20 and was on it for 6 weeks. I had good days and bad days... Bad was feeling very anxious, mostly all day, and was having more bad days than good.. Everyone on this site for the most part had very good luck with it and told me that the anxiety side effects would diminish and leave altogether. Unfortunately for me, that hasn't happened yet. Both my therapist and PCP said that I would have seen some kind of good consistent results after 9 weeks. So I'm going to go on brand effexor XR. I was on one generic for over 10 years but the company discontinued making it and substituted that generic with another. It threw me into tailspin. Surprisingly, I have tapered down to 10 mg of Lexapro to transition back to the effexor and I'm happily surprised that I am doing better on the 10!!!! So....I might have been on too high of a dose. I really wanted this medication to work because weaning off Effexor is hard, but doable. I'm going to try 1 more week at 10 and if I have better success, I'll probably stick with it. Also, every bump up in mg, you might have a bit of side effects at a greater level as many here have experienced but not to be discouraged, y are mostly doing well. I guess I'm the exception.... I'm the reason Murphy's law exists! Good luck and God bless you!
