gout and allopurinoll

Has anyone stopped take allopurinoll after taking it for a couple of years, i would like to stop because of the side effects but i'm worried that i will have a instant attack if I do so, I have had gout for about 3 years I find it hard to accept that you cant cure this, have tried so many things such as apple cider vinigar, nettle tea but was told by my doctor to stop because i had a very high iron level in my blood, I was thinking of trying to reducing my allopurinoll and starting to take natural product instead
also has any heard of pandan leaves.

You should ask your GP to refer you to a Rheumatology expert so they can alter the medication accordingly, i certainly wouldn't recommend stopping the treatment until you have seen an expert
I have also tried taking concentrated cherry juice and vitamin C but herbal treatments will take time to kick in so it depends how long you want to put up with the gout pain and discomfort
My gout is more or less under control now so i will keep taking the prescribed drugs for now
Thanks

2. The gout will not return instantly but after a number of months it is likely to do so.
3. Would you prefer gout to your current side effects?
4. Frankly, I would have severe reservations about stopping a treatment that is managing this painful and disabling disease.
5. My view (as a allopurinol taker) is that the drugs work and thank god for that!!

GP's are a useful asset to the health service.
However, they are not specialists in gout ... they are "generalists".
So don't expect great expertise from a GP about gout. If you need then you should find a specialist (which is what I did). After all, would you ask a carpenter to fix your plumbing??
(Stick with the allopurinol too!)

Learn what to eat and you can do it also. I use to skip breakfast and make up for it later, don't do it eat a good breakfast and some fruit everyday. It keeps you from going for the junk foods which are full of carbs, sugar, and acidic.
Good luck It's working for me. I also used Phgreens with water until I was pain free. Just one teaspoon in a glass of water/ day. Now not as often once every few weeks. Basicly increase your Vegetables and fruits / day and decrease your meats especially fatty meats. I eat chicken or fish 90% of the time now. 10% other meats. I'm totaly pain free now, you can do it, I didn't think I could but with time and determination to be pain free I made it in about 3 months.
