Gout home remedies?

Posted , 11 users are following.

I'm currently in day two of a gout attack on my ankle and little toe area. Unfortunately I currently have a gap between my old and new insurance. I'm doing everything I can to avoid the doctor. Any suggestions on home remedies? I'm desperate for some relief! Thanks!

In addition to what Hank has suggested - lots of water!! No alcohol and no sugar/fructose corn syrup. - J

Of course if you've been cheating on your diet - STOP!

I always go full vegetarian when that happens (and even some veggies are bad of course). But I only recently realized how bad fructose can be, or much sugar of any kind.

But the specific remedy is celery seed, or just plain celery. Google for more details. It's more a preventative than a fix but it also tends to limit severity and accelerate recovery. Celery seed is available in bulk as a spice (which is very nice, actually!), or in capsules at most supplement stores.

High potency Bromelain (GDU > 2800) is the most effective gout pain and inflammation remedy that I've found.

    Hey there,

First of all be sure to increase your intake of water and vegies. Avoid fast foods, sweet stuff and junk food.

Will you be willing to try some natural supplements and vitamins? I would gladly recommend from my own personal experience with gout

Avoid soft drinks. My gout attack got worse when I drank soft drink.

The best short term relief agent I've found is high potency bromelain (GDU >2500). Also works well with cholchicine and NSAIDS (e.g. Ibuprofen)

I was a gout patient (I still is, but not severe as before). I have tried many medications to cure gout. But, nothing worked for me. I found some home remedies after 2 years of my struggle and I remember the name of the book as End of Gout. Which I bout on line after reading several. The methods mentioned in the book was awesome.

Apple cider vinegar tablets were the thing that worked for me. As someone that works in healthcare, I didn't want to believe that anything that might be considered 'alternative' medicine would be effective, but I tried everything in total desperation after 2 months of misery. 48 hours after starting cider vinegar capsules, my attack ended and I take them every so often since then and haven't had another attack for 3 years+
