Gp thinks fibro but im not sure, some symptoms dont add up, any advice?

hi everyone,

so I saw my GP yesterday and he thinks I have fibromyalgia but I'm not 100% sure, like I fit most of the symptoms but info online is very confused so I thought I would ask here πŸ˜ƒ

basically, for years I have like flare ups every now and then of severe joint pain. it's mainly in my hips, they like click and crunch. they did an X-ray and found the beginnings of osteoarthritis in one side but not enough to be causing the pain I'm getting. I was deficient in a few things but once I fixed that nothing improved. physio told me to build the muscle up by doing squats which has made it worse. the more I move the more it hurts basically. my legs give way sometimes and I have really bad pins and needles/dead legs. I also get pain in my knees, back, shoulders, kneck and I'm always fatigued 24/7. because of all this my gp thinks fibro. however this is what I'm confused about, does fibro cause hip clicking, and can you have areas where you don't feel pain at all? like all of my pain is internal and really bad at times, but like I'm heavily tattooed and I really don't feel tattoo pain half the time and I broke my wrist and it didn't hurt πŸ˜…

I'm super lost and confused and desperate for answers because I'm in so much pain internally and I literally can't do anything daily because of tiredness and it hurts to walk and I love walking 😦

any suggestions or advice would be very much appreciated, thank you πŸ˜ƒ

as far as i know, from what GPs have told me that CFS/ME, PVF and fibromyalgia are very similar symptoms and each one also effects eveyone slightly differently. i was told might have fibromyalgia but like you felt i wasnt text book symptoms. its a mind field and unfortunately anxiety makes symptoms worse. the only thing i find actually helps is talking to people because i think eveeyone feels the same not quite knowing whats going on!

there is a link between hypermobility and fibro and hypermobility often gets misdiagnosed as fibro because hypermobility gets harder to diagnose as you get older as its usually diagnosed in childhood but symptoms can actually start of the condition when your older as you get more stiff rather than flexible and hypermobility causes widespread pain in the joints from loose ligaments which causes your muscles to fire up to help your joints with stability that the ligaments are no longer doing causing even more pain and symptoms and doctors cant see why your in pain so after all the tests come back fine and they dont mention hypermobility as its not looking obvious they say its fibro when infact it could actually be hypermobility im going through the same sort of thing at the moment ive had a couple of physios and one said if you keep going to the doctors youll end up being diagnosed with fibro as he was trying to tell me it was all mental and in my head i even had to go to councelling and got put on anti depressant meds when i dont even suffer with depression well not until i started suffering with chronic pain out of nowhere who woukdnt be depressed when its changed your life!? its the constant pain thats caused me to be depressed and they wasnt getting it! but then my last physio that i paid privetly for said i deffinitely dont have fibro as im not in pain when he touched anywhere on my body knew i had a bigger issue as my muscles around my neck get so stiff like they are protecting something they arnt just doing it for no reason so he wrote to my doctors for futher testing which i am still going through 2 years on! and if you ask me fibro is always a blanket term for something underlaying going on just like IBS is a blanket term you have an issue the doctors just dont know what as they cant see it but they give a diagnosis of fibro or IBS so you atleast get abit of a diagnosis as they know thats what people want but its not good enough for me i dont think anyones bodies are just in chronic pain for no reason what so ever it doesnt even make sense for a start! and i also have the clunking crunching in my hips my body clicks and snaps all over the place worst place effected is my neck though all the other aches and pains are so minor compared

i also have a few family members with hypermobility but im yet to be diagnosed myself so to me the link is deffinitely there hope you have gotten more answer since posting maybe hypermobility is something you could mention good luck x

hi Lau93ren, I too am having all the snapping and grinding. my shoulder feels like it is coming out of its socket some days. I've seen a neurologist and rheumatologist and was recently diagnosed with muscle tension through anxiety and Fibro. I'm now experiencing problems swallowing as if my throat muscles aren't working properly. every part of my body snaps, creaks, crunches and clunk's. I wake up scared each day, not to mention the constant pain, numbness, tinnitus, forgetfulness, the list goes on and on 😦
