GP thinks it's diverticulitis.. Cramps feel more like period pains to me.. Ladies any thots?

I'm 53, post menopausal woman. No other health issues.

Crushing cramps lower left side. Also unrelenting lower back ache especially when resting.

GP thinks it might be diverticulitis, prescribed antibiotics which do seem to have helped. Month later it came back (back pain never really left) so back on antibiotics. Scan scheduled for next week.

My query is really for ladies - does the cramping feel like uterine cramps? Like during periods? Because that's exactly what mine feel like. And no bowel upset. Just doubting that it's diverticulitis at all.

The CT scan will tell a lot more. Don't be surprised if they need to do a colonoscopy.

Don't come to any conclusions before those results are in. Best wishes until then!

Yes it can feel just like period cramps. And the back pain sounds pretty normal for diverticulitis too.

I am 55 and post menopausal, no periods for over 3 years now.

I have crampy period pain, urinary urgency and some urinary incontinence. I do have diverticula disease and my GP thinks this is the cause of my symptoms. I have to do a stool sample next. He won't entertain the idea of a internal scan to check for pelvic causes.

I do have pains on my left side too so confusing really.
