Gradual loss of vaginal features

Hello everyone. I'm new to this site.

I've lived with LS since my teens, I am almost 50 years old now, have used Steroids regularly to keep things in check but often have a run of flare-ups.

My question is this. How many women here have lost their labia?

The hood of my clitoris has almost completely fused now and I expect that I will lose what's left soon enough.

Can anyone here relate to this?

Even though I have used steroid creams for years, this has not prevented the loss.

Is there anything that can stop this from happening?

Thanks

    Hey Greenhome!

I'm so sorry to hear about your struggles 😦

I also got diagnosed in my teens and just this past year its REALLY gotten worse. I also have been experiencing fusing of the clitoral hood. I can only tell you what has been working for me and what I have read on here.

My first recommendation would be to minimize your use of the steroids! A lot of women on here think it as contributed to fusing. Thanks to this forum I've found some awesome stuff. In place of the steroids for regular maintenance, I've moved over to emuaid (which is really pricey but really worth it) and others just use emu oil. Emuaid provides a lot of relief during an inflammation as well and I only use the steroids once a day during and emuaid 3 or four times a day.

For the fusing and hopefully reversing of it, there is a lot of praise for baking soda. In various forms, one being to use it dissolved in a spray bottle after each bathroom use. Also in a sitz bath with some borax. And also dipping a q-tip in a baking soda solution and gently applying directly to the fused areas. (read the posts on here that ask about it)

And then preventative care: minimize irritation from sex (lube lube lube!), clothing, wiping etc.. Applying oil (lots of people use emu or coconut) aka lube everyday to decrease rubbing from movement, hair etc.. Decreasing sugars seems to have a large impact as well.

Frequent steroid use can cause thinning of the skin, which is a huge problem for LS. Most women say to ignore the doctors orders for regular use and only use for irritation.

I hope this can help you! And above all- read read read, this site has done so much to help my own journey!
