gradual shoulder paralyisis

A week ago I came from my gym workout with a tight neck and shoulder on right side. I swam 1km a few days later. A few days later the deep shoulder pain was worse and i went for phsiotherapy/massage. the next day was worse again. It has been a week and I now have no arm /shoulder flexion or abduction. Elbow to hand is fine but I can't raise my arm. I am waiting another week for my MRI appointment. Either brachial nerve damage or torn rotator cuff has been mentioned by my local doctor. I am freaking out that this could be some sort of permanent shoulder paralysis?? help please. I am 50 yr old male.
