Granddaughter been ill for 2.5 years & worsening - anyone any idea what her symptoms suggest?

My granddaughter (now 15) has had very painful periods which we presumed caused her to faint/vomit for several years. Over the last 2 years, though, her fainting/vomiting has worsened to the point where she is almost bedridden now, & these episodes are no longer specifically related to her periods. Seems worse in the morning - sometimes so dizzy on rising that she can't get up, & vomits whenever she tries. Recently, Obs/Gyn consultant said the fainting/vomiting is not linked to her period problems.

She has had several consultations/tests with no real diagnosis. She has managed only 3.5 days at school over the last 17 (and she is not shirking - she is a really keen student). School are totally unhelpful & NHS wheels are grinding incredibly slowly. Various treatments have been tried (contraceptive pill/implant/mefenamic acid) and have not worked.

Today, results of a thyroid function test apparently show an underactive thyroid, but her symptoms don't fit at all. Has an abnormally fast heartbeat & has lost weight, not gained it. And other classic symptoms aren't present.

Symptoms include: fainting and/or vomiting several times daily. Fast heartbeat. Dizziness/constant headaches/disorientation/confusion/. Enlarged thyroid. Extreme paleness (but not anaemic).

She is awaiting yet another hospital appointment to check out her heart arrhythmia, but GP wants to start treatment for underactive thyroid. BUT we still feel something is being missed here and an underactive thyroid is not the real answer.

Does anyone have any similar experience/ideas? We are all at our wits' end and would love to hear from anyone who can give any advice.

IVE HAD THYROID ISSUES FOR YEARS. SOME OF HER SYMPTOMS SCREAM UNDERACTIVE THYROID. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO TAKE THE THROID MEDICATION AND GIVE IT A CHANCE TO WORK! YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOOSE A ND EVERYTHING TO GAIN! PLEASE DONT WAIT ANOTHER DAY!
