Granulation tissue

I am now 6 months post op from hysterectomy with anterior and posterior vaginal repair.

I have had more recent light bleeding and pain/soreness in my vagina. Sex has been very painful ever since the surgery. I assumed that with time things would improve. But, when the bleeding began, I visited my regular obgyn (not my surgeon) and she said that there was grandulation tissue at many of my incision points and that was causing all of the pain/bleeding.  I’m relieved to know all structures are still in place! But the course of treatment for this is as follows:

-6weeks on an oral estrogen-like drug to strengthen tissue

-at 4 and 6 weeks silver nitrate treatments on the grandulation tissue

-if no marked improvement, referral to another specialist and perhaps a surgery to remove said tissue

She told me that I WILL NOT live this way forever, and that we will fix it! That has given me great hope.

Has anyone dealt with this issue? Any insight could be helpful. Thanks!

    Hi

Yes, I had just the same, following my hysterectomy and repairs. I think it was only at the vaginal vault but I had the same symptoms.

I was prescribed Ovestin pessaries, then cream when I couldn’t get the cream. It worked and all is now fine.

I do hope you feel better soon. 😃

Thank you. I’m nervous about the silver nitrate treatments. My first is tomorrow.

The estrogen, Osphena, is causing me some unpleasant side effects...anger and chills. I’m just ready to put all of this repair work behind me!
