I've had granuloma annulare for the last 6 years gradually spreading and getting worse over the years until finally i couldn't stand it any longer last year and my gp sent me to see the dermatologist. I was prescribed betnovate creamwhich hasn't worked and the circles have continued to get bigger and increase in amount. I now have them covering both legs and arms. I was referred for puva light treatment by the dermatologist and was looking on the positive side. Today was going to be the start of the cure.So i thought. I put off having surgery to have light treatmen and can't go on the waiting list for that now for 3 months and today i was told i cant have light treatment either as i am an epileptic.The consultant dermatologist who referred me knew i was epileptic so why bother. I can't get any lower and the more i think about it the more i want to end my life so that the hospital drs can't kick me down any more.

The dr who told me i can't have light treatment has said there are plenty of creams to try but i don't want my skin getting any thinner or drier than it already is as for drugs i must take over 20 a day for various complaints and can't risk them interacting with my others. She prescribed proropic today but asked if i was allergic to anything. I told her yes numerous antibiotics but she failed to ask which I am not going to bother getting the ointment as the leaflet says do not take if you are allergic to erythromycim and clarythromycim 2 of the antibiotics i can't take.

Thats why i would be better off dead

    I don't know if this will help you but it has me. I've only been doing this for 3 days on four spots I have and they have deminished quite a bit. Somewhere I read that it could be like a skin fungus type of problem. So this is what I have done. I have tried dreams in the past and nothing helped because I don't think the cream was able to get "inside" the rash. So I used a pumus stone (not sure if spelled right) and scraped over lesion - this did not hurt at all - then I applied athletes foot cream - I got it from the dollar store. I apply 2x a day and I am only going to use pumus stone every other day. In 3 days - they are looking better. I don't think its a cure but definitely an improvement in appearance! I hope this renews your hope - it is working for me with no drugs to take! Big plus!

      I eventUally got the light treatment I needed & it cleared up completely. I've had no recurrence since having the light treatment which lasted 6 months

      what is this light treatment that you had can you tell me, and where

      do you have to get it, does it hurt, what does it do. Mine is getting

      worse by the day..can't stand it anymore......

      Hi light treatment is treatment with ultra violet sunbed treatment, I had to have a bath in a special liquid so my skin would react to the light others could take a tablet half hour or so before treatment, then I would stand in what was a stand up sunbed with uv tubes. I started off at only a few seconds then the next time it was increased by a few seconds. I had treatment twice a week each time the timer was increased until I got to 12 minutes. Treatment lasted for a few months & I got a lovely suntan, The only thing I had to do was wear sunglasses after treatment & keep my arms covered when I went outside because of the puva reacts to sunlight. As it was just like using a sunbed It dioesnt  hurt & the nursing staff time it so that you don't burn.
