Granuloma Annulare

I have had Granuloma Annulare for many years, I also have thyroid disease and was put on synthetic medication for this problem. After many years of suffering generalized granuloma I discussed with my doctor if I could change my medication from a synthetic drug for my thyroidism to a natural one and he agreed. I now am free of granuloma annulare (for the past few months) and would encourage anyone who has a thyroid conditon being treated by a synthetic drug to change to a natural one and see if it helps. I am so happy that I now do not have to put up with the constant itching and unsightly generalized granuloma annulare that I have put up with for at least 10 years. I also suffer from IBS problems and have taken myself onto a mainly gluten free diet. Maybe this can help some of you out there who are suffering. Good luck.

Your comments are very interesting in that I too have a Thyroid issue. In the past have been on synthetic medicine but now on Synthroid to better regulate my body. I have always had skin issues and drastic reactions to anything involving the skin. I feel like this eruption is now forever; some of it in raised circles and then areas behind my calfs where they've all joined together to form a large raised red measely rash. I did notice that the sun seemed to affect it in a positive way.

FYI, Synthroid is a synthetic thyroid medicaiton. I am guessin the OP meant she's taking a natural thryoid medicaiton like Nature-Throid whic his not man-made.

I am actually taking a 'compounded' medication with the prescription from my Endocronologist.

sylvia,
That is fabulous you are free of GA. There is a FB page of GA sufferers and lots of them are on thyroid medication. It might be helpful to them if you post your success. I don't have that problem, just Type 1 diabetes.
