Granuloma Annulare clears up after hip replacement surgery

I've had granuloma annulare on and off for at least 10 years. I had my latest flare up for approximately two years on my left elbow. No pain or itch but looked gross. I basically ignored it but was hoping it would disappear soon as other flare ups had before.

I'd read these discussion boards looking for insight and there didn't seem to be a magic bullet.

Separately, I had a total hip replacement on my left hip 6 days ago. I felt a need to sign up for this discussion group as I had something crazy to share.

Two days after surgery, I noticed that not only was my old hip joint gone, but so was my granuloma annulare!

My boyfriend thinks this is some magic discovery like when they accidentally discovered that viagra, which was being used on heart patients, was also helping men w erectile dysfunction.

I'm not suggesting that if you're suffering from granuloma annulare, you should get hip replacement surgery. All I can think of is I know they gave me a couple of IV drip bags of pre emptive antibiotics. It's kind of miraculous!!

And lots of steroids unfortunately. Steroids will make it go away, but most likely temporarily. I hope ok wrong. In the meantime, we are all looking and hoping for a cure!

Hope that hip replacement feels good. Best of healing!

Thanks Sarahsings.  I looked at my clear elbow and my mind was blown. Hopefully the effect will last. Time will tell. Thanks for your insight and healing wishes.
