Great support between Hippies!

I joined this group when I had my THR 7 weeks ago and have found it immensely helpful. It seems we all have pretty much the same concerns and it's really nice to communicate with other people who have already been in that position or are about to go there. Before my op I found lots of helpful things and now it feels really good to be able to offer help and support to other people. I am delighted with the result of my new hip although I will admit that I'm a bit impatient now to get back to 100%. The pain has gone instantly and, if everything is straight forward, it doesn't take long to get back to moving around without sticks, walking, driving, regular daily tasks etc but I have realised that it's going to be a while before my right leg muscles have totally regained their strength. I think you have to be prepared to continue with the exercises for several months which isn't a big deal really.

Marion, I can feel your happiness, it comes through your writing. I am really pleased you have had a great THR. Carry on improving, it is nice to hear how well you are doing. I am pretty much the same as you but, more cautious as I am always worried about dislocation. 😊😆

I do worry about dislocation but my physio told me that, at this stage, it's OK to push just a little through a bit of discomfort in a muscle but not through pain. He also assured me that pain comes before damage and I would be very unlucky to dislocate now unless I did something really stupid  which, needless to say, I'm not going to do! Glad to hear that you are also doing well. Let's keep it up!

This is very helpful info about pushing through a little muscle discomfort but not pain.  Thanks for sharing it and keep up the great work.  We are all in the same boat learning, sharing, healing and supporting each other through this unique experience.  Someday we’ll be able to dress again without sticks and run.

Yes it does take time, today was 2 months since my revision, and I went to the gym today for a workout, and I have to take my sock-aid along with me as I still cannot bend!

I was able to check my weight, which is back to my pre-revision weight .... all good, as I KNOW I put on weight in hospital.

Thank the Lord for the sock-aids, wonderful gadgets. Congratulations on getting to the gym and your healthy weight.

I have to admit, I was glad to get rid of the compression socks.l They were sludge green and wrinkled like Nora Battys!

      Yes, hideous things.

I am convinced that they were responsible for my sleepless nights.
