Green Light Laser Procedure for BPH Side Effect

Posted , 8 users are following.

I am thinking about having a green light laser procedure. This usually results in retrograde ejaculation. Can anyone comment about whether this has affected their sexual pleasure ? I understand the orgasm still occurs except nothing comes out the end

From my experience, retrograde ejaculation is only a concern if you plan on having childr en. It should have no effect on your pleasure.

Thank you for the info. Did you have the green light procedure yourself?

Not in my case. And my wife is happy not to be dripping afterwards! (I had a TURP but had retrograde ejaculation from the alpha-blocker I was on before the TURP so I knew what to expect.)

Lee, Thanks for the feedback . I am trying to figure out what dry orgasm will feel like since there are so many different opinions . I would like to think that the feeling of something coming through from the testicles is still partially there except that you dont feel it come out . and still get somewhat of a spasm / orgasm ?? Any details are appreciated !

That's about right. You don't feel that squirt but it still feels like something's happening. It may not be quite as intense but still feels good. Flomax (tamsulosin) gives most people retro, maybe your doctor could prescribe that. When I was on it, it had that effect within a week.

I had retro when I was on Flomax. It definitely affected the feeling of orgasm for me. I feel like I didn't actually climax.

Ted , Since I have been on Doxazosin for years my ejaculations have been more like drops. But I also still like even that much . I have to decide because Im going on an intl trek in Himalayas. I can understand your statement about it doesnt feel like a climax - But did you at least get a spasm / orgasm but just different because nothing came out at end? in other words do feel the fluid as it starts from testes and just dont feel it come all the way out or through the penis ??

    John,

I only had two or three retro occasions, as I stopped taking the Flomax. It felt like I was about to climax but then I felt pressure and the intensity of the orgasm was less. It definitely wasn't as pleasurable but maybe you get used to it with time. If you want to test it, just go on Flomax and see how you feel. I had Aquablation, which avoids the retro.

    Thanks Ted

Why did you have the aquablation ? How was the recovery ? What part of country do you live ?

Yea I would think I would get used to it since I have been on Doxazosin for years and the orgasms are wet but only slightly

      John,

I live in Connecticut. Aquablation is similar to TURP, but it avoids the ejaculatory ducts so there is no RE. That is the main reason that I chose it. I don't want retro if I can avoid it. The recovery was very easy. There are several Aquablation threads on this forum. You should read them.

i was 95% RE before my HoLEP, am 100% now. Id say I have better erections now, though the loss of anything flowing through is noticed. I just put my awareness on other things, enjoy the moment more rather than anticipating the momentary orgasm. Grow and evolve.

I only experienced this in 2015 when I took Flomax for 6 days.

I did not like the feeling at all. It was strange and dulled.

But a urologist I spoke to who had a TURP said to him it just felt different, but was still enjoyable.

I have heard it both ways so you take the risk with RE.

I just had Aquablation on Tues morning - really no pain but it's too soon to tell you my outcome.

You can google it to read more - also there are posts here and their 5 yr study only had 7% retrograde.

One doctor told me he has done 157 Aquablations and 0 RE, my doctor has done 75 and 0 RE.

    Hope this helps you.

    Bob

Where did you have your aquablation done? I haven't found a place in the PNW that does it.
