Green vegetable

Dear all,

My doctor told me not to eat fresh vegetable but cooked. Is it ok to eat spinach cooked, as well as other leaves cooked?

How about egg white, is it good. I am at CKD 3.

Thank you,

CS

That's because spinach is a bit high in potassium. Egg whites are good. Just take the intake limets your Dr gives you and divide into your daily meals. You can have foods, in moderation. Some aren't worth having because you get such a small amount. For me anyway, I don't like being hungry, lol.  We don't all have the same diet so I would say get your intake limets from your Dr first and go from there.

    Colombos,

Egg whites are a great option for protein. I eat a serving of egg whites every day. My kidneys seem to handle egg whites better than meat protein, e.g., chicken breasts or fish.

When you cook spinach a serving is extremely high in potassium. So, if you're on a low potassium diet you probably shouldn't eat cooked spinach.

My nephrologist is fine with me eating fresh vegetables. But I can only eat 2000 mg potassium daily do I have to measure everything pretty carefully. Nevertheless, I can eat my vegetables raw or cooked, whichever I prefer.
