Groin pain

Posted , 5 users are following.

Hi. I'm now 7 weeks post op. I have recovered well with no real complications. I am walking unaided. Can manage stairs and most things now independently. I am still stiff and achy first thing in the morning which I think is normal as 7 weeks is still early in the process.

I do my physiology exercises regularly. My only concern is groin pain in certain positions and the occasional click in my hip joint.

Not seen a physio since week 3. See her next week and also review with surgeon. I will query this then but wondered if anyone else had had this experience.

Many thanks if anyone can comment.

Yes I know this pain as well, I get it when I lie on my side

without a pillow for to long or just sit for t long. I mostly

have a stiff back in the morning and a hot shower then

a walk helps that. Take it easy and listen to what your body is

telling you, take a break from time to time. Good luck

    on your recovery.

    hi sandra,

this is pretty normal and part of the healing process - so much has happened there - it'll be good to have your PT look at it  - maybe have her/him look at the way you do your exercises - I have been doing mine incorrecly apparantly ( lifting from the groin instead of the thigh - hence groin pain) -

please come back here to let us know how things are going ....

    big warm hug

Hey there Sandra, I'm 3yrs post op of TLHR and i suffer bad groin pain and a noise coming from the front of my groin and my movement was restricted. The surgeon first said it was caused by the tendons rubbing or flicking over the front of the hip in which usually will go away or once the tendons rubs thinner it should get better, well more than a year past and it got worse so at first i had steroid injections into the tendons with no luck so then i had a Soas and adductor tendons relase (cut) and still no better if anything I've been worse. I still can't get into so many positions, i can't squat and sexual relations well damn i forgot what that is like due to my lack of movement and pain. All i can say is get other opinions if your not happy most important keep up the exercises, i really hope you find the answer you need and get the problem sorted all the best. Sue

Hi Sue. God sounds like you have had an awful time. They tell you all the things that can go wrong with this op but we all hope it won't happen to me.

My surgeon told me 95% of his patients were happy with their op. Hoping I'm not in the 5%.

Seeing him on the 16th and the physio. So will keep you posted on what I am told.

I don't have any noise but I do get a definate click then it seems to move back into place.

Thanks for the reply and advice and I hope it gets better for you soon. Xxx

Hi Sandra, i hope all will be good news for you. Yes ive had a really bad run, i will be having a hip revision to replace one part of the ceramic to plastic he said as my noise is so bad but he won't do until I've had a nerve stimulating device permanently implanted due to my Chronic Nerve pain. I done a trial of the nerve stimulator which was wondering having no nerve pain during the trial but of course i got an infection in my spine and it was only a 1% chance of an infection in which my Surgeon has never had a patient get an infection yet and of course i had to be the first grrrrrr. All i won't is to get back to normal I'm seriously over all this pain and issues. I hope you get the answers you need for a full recovery.

      Hugs Sue xxx
