Groin Pain After THR Could be Adductor Tendonitis

Posted , 3 users are following.

8 months after anterior TRHP i am having chronic constant groin pain...After reading so many posts on here I found many many people having the same problem. I was diagnosed with Illopsis Tendonitis by 3 doctors who did nothing but give me 2 cortisione shots. The shots did nothing but raise my blood pressure and give me rhoid rage...

I just had a consult with a new dr that I believe is right..The previous diagnosis is wrong. He says I have abductor tendonitis...and the symptoms match everything i have to a tee...Walking is painful, standing is painful..basically everything is painful

Is there anybody out there with adductor tendonitis after hip replacement?

    Hi

im only just short 4 weeks post op and had Superpath approach, which is a minimally invasive technique. Groin pain was what forced me into the THR as I suffered with it increasingly over a two year period.

After the THR my groin was painful and still is painful despite everything else improving really well. However my groin does NOT hurt at rest or when walking that much. I can feel it but it isn't agony. If however I flex it then it brings on more severe pain.

saw physio today and again mentioned it, she still isn't worried and has arranged for me next week to have pool therapy.

Question to you is what exercises were you doing at my stage, and how much did you push yourself? I was told to avoid anything that aggravates the groin but if you were being forced to do things that hurt it early on then that might explain why you are where you are now.

Is it painful while lying flat on your back?

Hi Gary. I had anterior which is same as super path. In anterior we are told pt is not necessary. I was walking 1 mile at ur stage and doing everything excepr sports...that is not what caused my problem..

I would definitely get a second opinion since you are in early stages before it becomes chronic....i wish you speedy recovery!

I feel great at the moment except the groin. They are monitoring me though and they said if it isn't better in 2-3 weeks then it will need to be looked at.

Sorry you are having problems. Do you think this is the trade off formminimaly invasive procedures?

Yes definitely a bad trade-off...posterior ones dont have the groin problems...ill be going for another cortisone shot in 2 weeks...

Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing

I would totally disagree that posterior patients don't get the groin problem. I am 5 weeks out from TLHR, posterior approach and my groin pain is awful, nothing is helping the pain. I start outpatient therapy starting tomorrow so I'm hoping for some relief.
