Guess what I found out

This is not really about my PMR but I just discovered that I'm part English. I always knew my fathers side of the family were Irish but I didn't know that some of them were born in England. Most made their way to the US in the 1800s.

If you are part English, it may not be PMR It may be rust.

When I Googled the term rust I got Schamberg disease. Is that what you call rust? The symptoms were not at all like PMR. And it said it mostly effects men and I'm a female.

Welcome!
My father's family came from Cork around the time of the potato famine ( mid nineteenth century ).

As I continue to do more research I have discovered that I have relatives from Cork too. Who knows maybe you and I are somehow related!

If only I had Irish forebears!!!! I'd be in the queue for an Irish passport like a shot!

So why do you want an Irish passport?

Because that is still an EU passport. My UK one is no longer a pass to cross the borders in Europe and receive a lot of entitlements

HI Eileen H, why did I think you were English?
HI amkoffee, its fun to research your family history. makes me forget my aches and pains! although i mustnt grumble as I did get off Pred after 2 1/2 years, but i still get extremely stiff if I sit for a long period of time, especially in the upper leg area, luckily Ibuprofen gives me relief.
So good luck to everyone with your tapering!

I was born in England. That's why I'd like an Irish passport. I live in Italy - Brexit is something of a handicap for me ...

I think my great grandmother was English. I have a British passport but I think I am entitled to a Dutch or German one because of family and a Belgian one because I lived there for ten years and paid tax!!

I was born in 1961 on the American base in Cuba. This was significant because in 1961 our then President Kennedy began the infamous trade embargo on Cuba and then in 1963 he instigated the Cuban muscle crisis. Everyone in America was pointing fingers at everyone else accusing them of being a communist. Any time another child found out where I had been born I was called a communist, commi or Fidelite. I started keeping it a secret. My husband on the other hand was born right here in middle America but from kindergarten to 10th grade he lived overseas. He lived in France (not sure where) and London as a small child, then Cairo, Egypt while he was in middle school and then move to Oslow Norway during his high school years.

"Part English", so am I. but the other part is Scandinavian. My mother was full Swedish and I understand that PMR is more common among that population. So, do you have any Scandinavian blood?

Nope I'm actually more European Jewish then anything else. 50%. I'm just 25% Irish and the rest is just a hodge podge. I had a DNA test done. No real surprises.
