Gum in pain

Posted , 3 users are following.

For the past few days the top right of my gum has been hurting (above one tooth, and the tooth itself doesn't hurt). I wear braces that I put in every other night (retainer). I used to have gum disease (which is now a ton better than it used to be).

I can't really go to the dentist as my schedule is chockablock, but if it is meant to be concerning then I'll try to go.

Can't see what would cause it as I've been careful with brushing etc.

Try flossing that area. Sometimes the food particles stuck in the teeth can cause pain.

No it's the gum that's hurting and not a gap between teeth sad

The gap in the teeth is what causes the gum to go bad.. when there is food particles in there and bacteria to flourish causing gum disease.

How long has it been there? If only for a couple of days then I would try rinsing your mouth out several times a day with warm salt water swishing it in that area in particular. If after about 3-4 days of that and it's no better then you should see a dentist. However if this had been there already for a week or more then you really should go so the dentist.
