Hi Denise, Sounds like a combination of water and wind. Sometimes I used to listen to it making its way from right to left and down through your system. Maggie x

Yes I do get gurgling and pain in my left side and the chances are it is food related. Although I am not wheat intolerant I do have to limit the amount of gluten I have. One bread roll a day is about my limit. The pastry in your pork pie is likely to have contained a great deal of gluten. Did you eat anything that contained onion or onion powder, garlic or mushrooms? Some brands of tomato ketchup contain onion  all of these can be triggers for IBS. If you haven't yet tried the Low Fodmap diet it's worth giving it a go. It has been proven to be very successful for lots of people in controlling and managing IBS symptoms.

I know white bread is a trigger for me brown bread at the moment seems OK in moderation this all started when I made leak and potato soup it wouldn't thicken so I added quite a lot of cornflower to thicken it ended up like wallpaper paste! But thinned out when I warmed it that night it all started could it have been a combination of cornflower onion and leak ? I've had onions since and been ok but kept of the leaks

When I was ill all the time, 2 to 3 times a week, my doc told me to cut out white bread and definitely helped. I still have a few slices with beans or scrambled egg.

I do not follow Fodmap but mainly because I saw a nutritionist and had a diet  agreed. I still get ill but not as much but may be because the diet is not perfect for IBS but gives me the major food groups and vitamins I need.

PS That should say I have a few slices of bread with beans or scrambled egg and salmon but wholemeal only preferably seeded.

I refuse to eat white bread. That and processed ham luncheon meat were the 2 biggest changes which I think have had the largest impact in my improvement.

The gurgling is common. your right does mean ur body/bowels/gut is upset the balance not right.always ur left as side of stomach n then will work round ur intensines till tells u how its going to come out. (Sick or spend ur time in the bathroom) To me defo is something u had that night, there the signs i get and most common for suffers. when i have a flare up, Do u get alot of bloating/wind?? This is another major fact in ibs suffers. Dont hold it in let it go!! Is down to what u have eaten.

Best thing to do is if u havent, n new to it all- check out the fodmap diet or keep a food diet urself. This way you can track ur good days n bad days. Pin point/ find ur do's n dont triggers. What makes ur body happy n good to eat. As suffers are not all the same. Its what ur body tolrates basically, i have alot of it in my family n were not all alike in our suffering n picking our meal choices!!

Good luck n take care x

I'm a newbie when it comes to IBS, and yes, I get tonnes of gurgling, churning, sloshy type sounds. They can occur anywhere around my lower abdomen, and I can feel it move around. As maggie said it seems like its a combo of wind and water, and it too makes me feel quite unwell at times. I find that this is usually followed by letting off, what I consider to be, way too much wind for a normal person, but it can relieve the symptoms. I believe my IBS causes me to bloat so much, that my insides are being stretched to hurting point.

One suggestion, try leaving out pork products, especially processed products. Pork is a bad trigger for me, even organic lean chops from my local butcher react badly, as do eggs and white bread. I don't eat any processed foods any more and that has helped my bloating, churning, gurgling and all other IBS symptoms a lot.

My IBS can make me feel very ill at times, and before I was diagnosed, I thought there was something a lot worse going on with me, but I've had tonnes of tests done, ranging from blood tests to colonoscopy, which have all been clear, and that has helped me relax a lot. Still get frustrated and upset because no matter what I do, I still get flare up days, and I'm not one for coping very well when I feel ill.

    All the best!
