Guys I need some reassurance please

Hi folks.  I’m 6 weeks on 50mg.  All I ever seem to read is folk feeling better and over the side effects in 2-3 weeks.   I’m just not getting over start up effects.  I still have upset stomach, no appetite, heightened anxiety, shaky feelings and just feeling odd like fuzzy and not myself.   Is this normal at 6 weeks, I just don’t know anymore I’m so exhausted waiting and searching for the answers.   Anyone else suffered this long for it to get better???

Hello Laura, so sorry you are not feeling a difference yet. My first sign was i could sleep through the night, but i would still get anxious and shaky, it wasn't a continuous thing though. It wasn't until around week 7 or8 that i really laughed for the first time in a long time. My dates might be off alittle but not by much. Please don't get on the internet and search for reasons because it will drive you to more anxiety. You might want to speak to ur doctor about it if u don't feel at all an improvement by week 8. This med might not be for you. Do u have anything to calm u down. I take ativan, but i haven't needed it for awhile. 😎

Hi Brenda.   Yes I have diazepam which I am using sparingly, I took one earlier on and it has calmed me down.   I am very wary of using it as that’s a whole other can of worms.  I think you are right, oversearching the internet for answers makes me feel so much worse x

I was up and down ..good days bad days and very bad days. This is a very very slow working drug. To be fair I felt my worst at 50mg. Sweats..bad bum..spaced out..tinnitus.. staring at the ceiling for 4 days from my bed..no energy..I couldn't do anything. Any attempt at even housework would put me on the floor.

I am now up to 150mg and this drug has saved my life. It's a gradual feeling of getting better. I am still not 100% though but I am getting there.

Try to keep busy ..I know it's hard. Write a ' must do ' list and cross stuff off... makes you feel better. Don't beat yourself up as anxiety is a horrible condition which no one understands unless they have suffered from it.

50mg is a low dose ..maybe the doctor will suggest an increase. I would suggest 75mg though not 100mg.

Take med same time every day and drink lots of water

    Good luck

Since before Christmas. Gradual increase..25mg at a time ..now at 150mg. My worst time was round 50mg to be fair. I have burn out and am still finding it difficult to build up my stamina...Mind you I am 62.

      Good luck🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄

Thanks for the replies xx. I’m starting to think I do need to increase my dose, I just can’t help but feel terrified of feeling worse which it’s daft cos I already feel crap.   I think I am worried that it’s not the right med for me and if I increase it, it will make it harder to come off which also is a daft way to think.  Us anxiety sufferers really crucify ourselves don’t we.  Xx

Hi Laura, I've been on 50mg for 8 weeks now and just like you I was worried because I hadn't made any progress unlike some other posts, I was really nervous of increasing in case it wasn't going to help but this morning I have increased to 75mg and am hoping in time I will benefit from doing it. I think the hardest thing was actually starting on Sertraline and I want to give the medication the best chance of helping me and if that means going up to 100mg at some point I probably will. Good luck..
