I have got an h.pylori home test kit, I have heard that you have to give up ppis before doing the test, is that correct and if it is how long for?

You need to give up PPIs for two weeks before an H pylori test to make sure it is accurate. This information is correct.

Can I take ranitidine, because my stomach is really uncomfortable.

Why don't you ask your Doctor?

It takes a month to get an appointment at my surgery, that is why I got the home test kit. I am waiting for an appointment to get an endoscopy but in the mean time I thought I would test for h.pylori in case that is what is causing the problem.

ive just been through similar hence i knew the answers to your questions. You can still take tums and antacid tablets apparently. i found andrews salts to be the best for instant relief. i hope you feel better soon 😃

Thanks, I am going to start a really healthy low fat diet diet and just drink water and green tea for a couple of weeks when giving up ppis I think.

Just a word of caution; green tea is one of my guaranteed triggers...

    Hi moon53540

Are there no instructions about do's and don'ts with the HP Kit?

Not about giving up ppis just how to do the test. It is just a cheap one from Amazon.

Your endoscopy will test for h pylori; I would wait for that. I don't know accurate home kits are but endoscopies are very reliable. Alternatively submit a stool sample to be tested for h pylori.
