H. Pylori test while on PPI?

Been on a PPI (Omeprazole 40mg) for GERD for just over a week. I've been having a gnawing abdominal pain for over 3 weeks now and suspect H. Pylori. My GI has ordered a fecal test, so I stopped taking my PPI. After scheduling to pick up the kit with the nurse I said to her "So am I right in thinking I shouldn't take my PPI for a few more days before doing the test?" but was told "No, take your PPI as normal, it won't make a difference."

Is that right? Or should I continue not taking it for a week?

Hi 3lli3, not sure but as per my doctor you must stop the PPI some days before that test.

Yep, that's what I thought too, so I find it bizarre that the nurse said I should keep taking it. I stopped on Saturday and will do the test over the weekend. My husband has now started with symptoms so I am really expecting to hear that we have H. Pylori.
