hi, i recently had my operation for abdominal hysterectomy. 4 weeks now. my bmi was around 35. i had my fibroids removed they were large and my uterus was double the size. they removed the uterus, fibroids cervix and fallopian tube. they kept the ovaries in. I was really nervous but everything went smoothly. first 2 days didn't get much pain but they do tell you to get up next day to walk. At that time you feel no i cant to early. but you just need to push yourself to get to toilet. i had room which had toilet in so was bit easy for me. next day they take out the pee bag so you will need to go bathroom. 3rd day i sat up on chair. just getting up from bed was hard. was taking plenty painkillers. discharged myself 4th day. had opened bowels. getting up from bed was the hardest part and moving around on bed. was getting pain because i had staples which were removed in 8 days. I've still got dissoluble ones internal. doctors didn't tell me much about what happened but will know once I've gone for my follow up appointment next month. was hard till the staples come out: now its been 4 weeks feeling alot better. moving around the house. if like me you have an apron stomach then you will feel the weight of it. i was told to use a towel to lift it up when i get up to go toilet which helped alot. just make sure you don't keep it for to long incase you sweat. use hot water bottle that also helped. hope this helps
