Hi everyone, I had an allergic reaction to a restaurant's BBQ sauce 2 days ago and I asked the one of the waitresses at that restaurant did they know what was in that BBQ sauce but they said they didn't know because the sauce was brought into them, not homemade, I'm fine now but the nurse told me to make an appointment to go see a doctor and get referred for a skin prick allergy test, now I've had this reaction before to this sauce before, but this was the only time where I could feel my throat getting a bit tight, I want to make an appointment to the doctor and get the referral made, but my mum says that I don't need it done at all and that I should just avoid that BBQ sauce altogether, by the way, I have been suffering with eczema from childhood, do you think that this is fair on me? I'm 23, I should be allowed to make my own decisions about my health and wellbeing.

Skin conditions like ezcema and psoriasis are linked to food and food intolerances and allergies and I have friends who’ve completely cleared their skin by eliminating certain foods. An allergic reaction as you describe without knowing what ingredient has caused it, leaves you vulnerable to more reactions if the ingredient is in other foods so your doctor would certainly want to explore this and if there’s a chance you might find out what’s flaring your ezcema at the same time then I’d be insisting on it. At 23 you decide for yourself surely but I understand you want your mums support ! Talk to her again about your concerns and explain how serious this could be
