Had fibromyalgia for 10 years

i was taken off Norcos almost 2 years ago with no adequate pain relief since. I recently realized that no one has suggested Lyrica and I'm hoping my primary care doctor will let me try it. As others have mentioned, my pain travels from one part of my body to another so the patches and shots Ive tried are very ineffective. For instance, yesterday my pain was mostly in my neck and upper back. Today, that area is still soar but my upper arm muscles are also in extreme pain. I'm not getting any younger and dealing with pain every day is sucking the life out of me. In a few minutes I need to go walk my dog and I'm dreading it instead of looking forward to spending some time with my buddy. Would someone share their experience with using Lyrica for pain?

Lyrica has a reputation of being very difficult to withdraw from once you're on it. It does dampen pain and also spasms but a study showed it does this by blocking the nerve impulses in such a way that it kills off your synapses (If you look up Lyrica + synapses you should be able to find it). My husband has been on it for many years (he has MS) and originally built up to a dose of 300mg twice a day. After reading the study we decided he might be best to stop taking it and started to gradually reduce the dose (you can't just stop - apparently it worse than cold turkey from heroin). When he went lower than 200mg twice a day he was very fed up with pain and other sensations. So, he's been on 200 x 2 dose for a very long time, his brain seems ok although he is very dozy a lot of the time . Telling you this so you've got another side of the pain-relief coin to think about. There are huge groups out there of people wanting to come off Lyrica.
