Had gallbladder removed

I would like to reassure anybody that is about to undergo keyhole surgery for removal of gallbladder that I hope you feel the same sense of relief that it's all over that I feel just now, having had my gallbladder removed by keyhole surgery on 9th August.
Expect to feel sore for a few days after but nothing major and certainly the pain is nothing like the attacks of biliary colic that I had been experiencing for over two years.
I had a sandwich less than four hours after having surgery and although I was kept in overnight, I was able to leave first thing the next morning. I have been able to eat my usual diet ( minus the dread of a gallstone attack)
I rather naiviely thought I'd be back to work in a day or so! But your body needs time to recover from surgery, everyone recovers differently but I think another week and I will be back to normal activities.
I'm glad operation is over and if you are facing the prospect too, I'd say go for it. I'm glad the nasty blighter has gone for good!

That is good to hear.
My symptoms have lasted since last Xmas, but are not as bad as they had been, and I am wondering if I really need the gall bladder removed, my doctor agreed, and he said as I have another 4 weeks before the pre-op assessment that if I am fine till then I am to make up my own mind as to whether I go for it or not.

To anyone that has rolled about in middle of night with the pain, rocked back and forth and thought they were having a heart attack, I would say, if you get the chance, get gall bladder out, it's a lemon of a cliff scenario, when it's gone, it's gone!

Good to know.
Prior or after the gall bladder removal did they check to see that all the surrounding ducts were clear? or was it a case of take it out and wait and see how you are.

That's good to know, but I wonder if they do that every time during the anaesthetic? Did you ask about this at the pre-op assessment? I was thinking about asking them at mine, although I am sure the surgeon said something about that it's normally done during the procedure but I can't remember if he said that or not.

I still have this pain when I move my abdomen from side to side, and I wonder if this is to do with the diverticulitis they say I have.
I have my op date for December, but slightly worried that removing the GB won't cure the current symptoms.
Any thoughts?
