I'm new to this and got it all backwards but here is my solution take lotion put it all over your knee Then take plastic Wrap, like you wrap your food in and wrap your knee up. Because the lotion is creamy and the rapid smooth it slides around over the nerves without waking them up that-a-way you can put pets blankets whatever you want I do it every night before I go to bed so my blankets don't drive my knee crazy all night it really works people good luck I've had no problem since except when I take it off.....lol

The saran wrap solution is a good one. I also tried to just wear shorts the whole time. I had my knees replaced in the summer so that helped--to wear shorts.  Otherwise, you just need to give it time. I am going on 18 months for my bilateral knee replacements and the knees are doing amazing. Keep doing your stretches and exercises and be patient. It does get better and the nerves do settle down.

Voltaren Gel (RX in the US) is a fantastic topical anti-inflammatory...that addresses the swelling and pain part of this.  Nerves?  Meh...  For that, I used AsperCrean with 4% Lidocaine or Lidocaine patches...all OTC.  That helps with the nerve pain.  I absolutely HATE the pain meds Gabapentin (Neurontin) and Lyrica.  Weight gain, side effects, etc.  IMHO, stay away.  It's all temporary.  You're strong enough to deal with it...
