Had metal plates and screws in leg now my foot is burning and tingling

I recently had surgery broken fibula and tibula I have screws and a metal plate put in my leg now about 4 weeks after surgery my foot is tingling and burning and has numbness I'm usually pretty good with pain but at night my foot is an agony I was prescribed Gabapentin 300 mg but this is not working I have to use ice packs to relieve the pain temporarily. Can someone please help me do I need to go to the hospital? Thank you
