Had my urodynamics

Hi guys. So i havent been on here in like forever. I'm 18 and I had a urodynamic test a few months ago (omg it was awful). They found out primarily I was stress incontinent but I know I'm fully incontinent maybe it didnt show there and then. Got my follow up appt on Monday and curious to what they're gonna say or suggest. The nurse doing it said I may need more tests. What would those be does anyone know? Probably not a camera up the other end because of my age they said they wouldnt do it anyway

Hi XoMonkey - So sorry that you have this predicament at such a young age (I am 76) and I am due for a Urodynamic test soon for Frequency and Urge Incontinence. I have recently had a Cystoscopy which wasn't too bad except for the shocking pain when the anaesthetic was pushed down my urethra. I had hoped that the Urodynamic test would be OK but by the sounds of your experience it now frightens me! What was the problem? I have been told that further tests could be for nerve problems but no details.

Hello! I'm sure cystoscopy is a lot worse than urodynamics, but i wouldnt be sure. I'm quite young, a virgin (funnily enough this does have an affect apparently the nurses told me its more uncomfortable for me bc of that reason) but yes it was horrible! Get it over and done with it does give good indications and answers. Yeah thats what theyre investigating too

Hi! They call it stress incontinence meaning the problem is on the muscle side, like there is a problem in the closure. Urge incontinence happens when you have an overactive bladder and it's related to nerves, usually involuntary spasm. So if your problem is weak pelvic muscles probably they are gonna do cystoscopy or cystogram to understand something more. It's not a very painful or uncomfortable exam.

Anyway, you wrote "fully incontinent" that is really strange for a 18yo, or better I mean I know it's not really so rare but usually doctor can quickly find the causes so it's strange they cannot find your one. And stress incontinence are few drops to small leakages, not all the bladder. If this is your case I would tell that to your doctor cause it's more urge incontinence (involuntary full losses, usually at once). Even if it happens only occasionally (as in my case, in addiction to the small daily leakages) it's something really important for your doctor to know.

Is it something started just now or it has always been like that? In the first case for sure there is a cause and doctor can find and solve it. Maybe diabetes, big changes in your life, constipation, anxiety, some drug side effect, UTI,...?

I would add not always there is a cause and/or doctors can find it, sometime it's even a mix of causes (as in my case). I've weak, small and a little bit overactive bladder, add cold, liquid retention, drink, urgency, anxiety...  incontince is there! I've always been like that and never found a solution or a main cause, all I can do is make it less bad as possible. I know this is not so comforting to you, but I'm telling you you are not the only one, I've gone through that at your age and it has been very difficoult for me so I can totally relate. But with years I can tell it's not the end of the world, you just need to manage it in the best easy way and face it not like a drama, as I think you are already doing. I've seen plenty of women blinded in their home totally deeply depressed for the incontinence and it's a nightmare, it doesn't seem like your case, right?

Still keep making tests and look for better and better doctors, nowadays it more probable to restore continence than the opposite, as I really wish for you. Hug

A doctor told me that they have Power Color Doppler Ultrasound in the hospital.

Sheeesh!  My uro, who is next door to the hospital, ignored my requests for this.
