had nissen surgery years ago now have a stomach hernia

I have had this hernia for six years in the last six months is gotten big and painful stomach is always hurting.I had to have the nissen done because my esophagus and vocal cord was burnt bad. Now having this what can be done ? Chest seems to be tight hard to release all the discomfort.

    That is how i feel Vickie, my voice has changed to a croak and I am forever getting chest infections ! I feel lousy today ! my chest is also tight and it hurts when I take a deep breath ? How did you find out your vocal cord was burnt ?? because I think that is why my voice has changed so much, I have 2 stents in my heart and a metal frame in back and also a disc in throat !!! but this pain in my chest is terrible, it also hurts when I bend down like my airway is being cut off, cannot lie on back either in bed as i start to make funny noises and cant breathe which wakes me up !! fed up with it mate gonna make another App at my docs on mon

      When they've done scooes down my throat looking for thing they see it . Its healed now but u have a lot of scarring tissue yes my voice isnt the same I stull have problems with my throat . I gwt alit of chest infections. But I need ti find soneone to take care of tgus henia its getting bad and in a lot of pain when I eat its worse the bulge is huge iam alway rubbing it. Any suggestions or doctors ?

    Vickie did you have any stomach or chest issues before the nisson surgery? I ask this because I have a 7cm hiatal hernia that will need surgery eventually and we are attempting to take care of my discomforts with gerd and spasms with medictaions before going the surgery route. I had changed my diet completely to all non fat foods and in small portions, so far that is working for me along with the meds but we know with the size of the hialtal hernia sugery will have to happen evenually and with all the problems you are having since your surgery and from what I have read from others having problems also I am getting very leary on that idea.

      Hi joy, now the surgery I had for gerd worked . I was doing all the things you were. They didnt help me. The surgery did. What they did was put a band aroundthe bottom of my esophagus the top of my stomach which prevents any acid juices anything from coming up. The only issue is your never able to vomit again which is only hard and painful when u get the stomach bug or something. My hernua came years after that surgery but iam being to wonder if it was tgere when I was having gerd problems. Can you tell me anything about this hernia . It was found in 07 now its bulging out you can see it and its painful even more so when I eat. I have a lot of gastoral problems and bowel problems. Needing help or feed back please

      Vickie I wish I had answers for you, I really do. I have no expierence personally with stomach hernia's but I do remember my grand father having one and it was repaired through surgery. I was his caretaker at the time and I had to clean and change the guazes every day to make sure it healed from inside out instead of the outside healing first. I dont mean to be so graphic but it took him about 6 weeks to heal properly and of course he was 85 years old at the time too so that may of contributed to how long it took to heal. However once healed he felt great and all stomach and bowel problems got better for him. I hope I have helped in some way and I wish you well on getting help for your medical issues.
