Hi just had open Prostatectomy surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago and I’m healing nicely. However it is too uncomfortable to sleep either on  my left or right side. I have to sleep on my back. Will I ever be able to sleep on my side? Anyone had this experience?

Gary give yourself some time to heal.  Why did you have a open prostatectomy.  Did your doctor think you had cancer Take is easy  Ken

No, I had a gigantic prostate with a gigantic median lobe. Open prostatectomy was the only solution. My understanding is that he left the shell of the prostate put took out all the insides. A couple of cells of cancer were found and he wants to monitor every 6 pounds my PSA.

I hope all goes well for you.  But was that the only option he gave you or did you get a second opinion.  We have to do what we have to.  Take it easy  Ken

I did explore other options. But felt that if I go invasive I will not have to re-address the prostate issue again. Some cancer was found in the sample he sent to the lab.

Gleason: 7 (3+4) about 5% of the tumor

      Grade group: 2

      No cancer outside of prostate

He will check psa every 6 months
