Had partial hysterectomy to help with endometriosis pain. All symptoms are back!

So I had a hysterectomy done in February of 2013,  I had a partial, just my uterus and cervix removed so all that is left are my ovaries. Within the past month all of the same symptoms are back that I had before surgery. Severe pelvic pain, bloating, back pain, not sleeping, hurts to urinate and so on. I'm 27 years old and no kids and I felt it was my only option because I had so many laps done and there was nothing more to do other than the hysterectomy. So if there are some women out there that has had a full hysterectomy could you please tell me if its worth asking doctor to remove ovaries.  Could really use some advice now or just to know theres more women out there around my age going through the same thing.  Thanks for taking the time to read.

I haven't had one personally, my mom had to have a complete hysterectomy due to bad endometriosis. She still gets Urinary tract infections and yeast infections. Those could be causing the pain during urinating, back pain.. I myself just went through the ringers and dr still didn't check me for it yet :-(.....But yes I would mention it to the doctor about removing the ovaries if thier infected with the disease...endometriiosis had attacked only parts..But her Dr said with time it would effect everything else . estroven with Blackfoot is what she takes everyday due to hormones.

Sanne, as I understand it, keeping your ovaries means keeping your hormones...and further as I understand it, your hormones are the cause of or the source of "food" for the endometriosis. Are you on any hormone therapy to alter the hormones and hopefully keep any endo at bay? Have you had any ultrasounds when you're having a pain episode? Is it possible you're getting ovarian cysts despite not having a uterus? Any CT imaging to rule out kidney stones? Blood in your urine? Your symptoms could be any number of things...I guess what I'm saying is don't jump to remove your ovaries before you rule out other possible causes and or try hormone therapy to keep the hormones and endo in check (if it is in fact endo causing the symptoms again - which it very well could be, but there are other possibilities too).

At the very least, I'd ask for a TV and regular ultrasound to rule out ovarian cysts and they can check your kidneys, bladders and ureters while they're at it to rule out kidney stones.

Just wanted to update you k51551 the conclusion is endometrioma on my right ovary also known as a chocolate cyst. Going to have surgery to have right ovary removed but he wants to keep the left one which still gives the endo something to feed on. I already cannot have kids like I said before. Im going to seek a second opinion if he won't remove both ovaries. Just frustrating cause I just had surgery 8 months ago.   Worried, scared, and frustrated.  Pain is worse than before, I just don't want to have to go through another surgery in 8 months again. My gyn claimed the endometriosis was not there before and it is now grape fruit sized and got that large in less than 8 months.  Just wanted to let you know. Have a great day and hope your feeling good.

I feel like the pain is getting worse lately especially when I have a firm bowel movement its almost unbearable at times in even sore for for a day from it. I was curious if it can still spread after hysterectomy and should I have been put on hormone pills. Im sorry your having a hard time also wouldn't want antobe else to go through this that's for sure!

Hi girls! I had a partial hysterectomy 9 years ago for horrendous endometriosis. I was left with my ovaries so as not to fall into immediate menopause. I have since had pain whenever I would ovulate- I presume you still ovulate and the egg goes nowhere?

The pain I am in has got progressively worse.... my tummy will swell so much that I look 8 months pregnant( it is normally flat) I have dreadful pain in my stomach and my back, tiredness, bowel issues etc... when I wake the next day it is completely gone but once it starts I know I'm going to be in agony until the following morning. Painkillers, hot bath, hot water bottle... nothing works

Any advice? I would rather not have the ovaries removed but is this the only option?

Thank you so much for reading and hugs to you all xx

    Hi Ladies,

I read through this feed and I was just wondering if any of you have found any answers or solutions?

I'm 34 and never had any children, I had a partial hysterectomy in early December after several laps for severe endometriosis. In late February I had emergency surgery for vaginal cuff dihesence (the vaginal cuff from my hysterectomy didn't hold and opened... my bowels went into my pelvic cavity)... needless to say I'm still in a great deal of pain, and now both my original and second opinion GYN have both said the pain is not only from surgical healing, but the endometriosis is coming back.

Has anybody found any remedies?? I feel like this is going to cause me pain forever!! I've considered having my ovaries removed as well, or has anyone found that it is controlled using hormones??

I'm so sorry you're all having symptoms and pain... but I'm slightly relieved to know I'm not the only one and that this pain and frustration is not just in my head!

I have your exact problem...had a partial laposcopy hysterectomy in Nov 2015.  All my symptoms are back.  I'm having my ovaries removed later this year laposcopically.  The new doctor explained that some people get YEARS of relief even with ovaries.  But since the ovaries produce the hormone that CREATES endometriosis.....well, sadly the problem still exists.

We are trying estrogen for now to lessen the pain but it isn't doing much.

I hope you find a good solution for you.

I’m so sorry that like the rest of us you’re still going through all of this. I also tried estrogen for awhile and it wasn’t helping, and was messing with my emotions so I stopped it. I would be really interested to hear how you feel after they remove your ovaries. When you’re feeling up to it, please keep us all updated! Thanks love, and best wishes for a speedy recovery!

    Hi again ladies,

Just an update for anyone who is still folllowing this. I still have been having the severe pelvic / abdominal / lower back pain, bowel issues, swelling etc. I’m still considering having my ovaries removed, but like many of you, trying to hold off as to not go into menopause at 34. I do take pain medication which somewhat helps, but I don’t like taking it for the obvious reasons of making me feel loopy and tired. BUT I did have a consult with a Gyn who was a long time family friend (she unfortunately lives in another state and is no longer in practice, so I’m not able to use her as my doctor) but she said to do pelvic physical therapy. I had never heard of such a thing until her. She said that a lot of the pain from endometriosis is because the muscles in the pelvic region are in a constant state of tension due to the inflammation. I’m currently searching for a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic pain, but what this doctor said, is that through pelvic physical therapy they’re able to help those pelvic muscles to relax, which SHOULD greatly reduce the pain.

I wanted to share so anyone else can look into this as a possible solution also, and to see if anyone else has heard of this and had any results?

    Hugs and best wishes ladies!
