had since September

Hi there,

I'm new on here. I've had what my opthemologist had been telling me, blepharitis since September. I went to for eye pain and goopy eyes to a optometrist in sept she prescribed me steroids which took care of goopy eyes but I still had pain. She reffered me to an opth who has been saying blepharitis and you need a new prescription. Still working on the new prescription thing.  But yesterday my eyes started gooping up again. Just when I am so frustrated by everything I relapse and now they are getting bad again I just started using eye wash pads as well. Has anyone else have eye fatigue and headaches from this? I'm so upset I have had a headache since September, I have three kids so its hard to get through the day when by the end my eyes and head ache. And now the goopiness again!! Any advice would be great I'm so frustrated I don't know what to do.

It's horrible isn't it? I am so fed up, my eyes are goopy as such but when I use the heat pad and massage them a lot of debris comes out. My eyes look allergic and tired. Been like this for months. Diagnosed with Blepharits, GP thinks I have an allergy, GP has been useless. Are you keeping your eyes clean? Also, have you been tested for food/environmental allergies?

Hi , how are you getting on with the steroid drops approach ?

Hi David, my GP that I normally see wasn't here so saw another one who wouldn't prescribe the drops. So making another appointment to see regular one. Think i'm going to have to go private...

What a nightmare ! I went private ( my GP had a thick directory to run through the choices available dependant upon their speciality ) . Ok it got me a very quick appointment but it also turned out that if I'd had a GP referal to the hospital I would have seen the same person !!!!!!!

He confirmed the melbomion Bleph , told me to use the Lacrilube at night , to do the eye hygiene stuff with the Bleph liquid , to carry on using the eyebag and prescribed some drops that were no longer in production .Also prescribed 8 weeks of antibiotics that he said " may work " . He was a eye surgeon as well as a consultant . He told me that even if successful , it may come back .

£130. and his equipement was no different to that at opticians' .

I am currently enjoying a relatively free period from Bleph but still have to lubricate the eyes with lacrilube at night and use the bleph cleaner to dissolve the lacrilube from my eye lashes in the morning . Using the eyebag if my eyes feel tired and i need to get the natural oils flowing .

I have the Red Packet wet ones on order and they should arrive soon . Since having seen the magnified images of the " critters " that would like to continue living courtesy of my glands , I'm determined to evict them for good !

No doubt some of my eye dryness is still associaited with my age , but am getting no " stuff " in my lashes anymore and can't remember my last bloodshot eye experience .

Hoping you get some help very soon .

That sounds good. Yeah concerned a specialist will just be telling me what I already know. What do you mean by critters? What do they look like?? My optician said I didn't have an infestation

On the site I mentioned , much further into the article of the different types of Bleph it showed a magnified photo of a MITE living in eye gland lubricant . It's the reason they put the yellowy orange drops into your eyes when going in for the close ups .

He told me that mine was mild and that i should be able to control it .

hi , look out for any of lynda's posts on here especially regarding wet ones red packs . i used to get the pain in one eye usually following and during being bloodshot . at times like that light sensitivity being the worse thing for mine . to me the pain follows a period of acute dryness . The newer easier to use lacrilube during sleep can help alot , up to about 4 hours if really bad , but never quite gets me through the night . Have been known to get up at 4 am , get used to the light then to re apply the lacrilube . really thorough washing with hot water , soap and a flannel first thing in the morning to get rid of the lacrilube and " gloop" , followed up by bleph cleaning liquid , followed by eye drops to rinse away any cleaner that may have gotten into the eyes .

try not to "screw up your eyes " tightly or move them to anywhere their limits of motion if you're concerned about the pain returning . that's what i've noticed over the years . that and looking into light sources , again especially if "looking out of the corners of your eyes " . For me that results in " kalidoscope " vision migraine and sickness .

    Dear hadassah,

I killed Blepharitis with an over the counter antibacterial handwipe. My friend was the first to kill it using a facial scrub with Benzethonium Chloride in it. They did not make it any longer with that ingredient so looked online and found that the wipes had Benzethonium Chloride in them. It took over 3 months but it has been gone for over a year and a half now. All the doctors told me (5) that it would come back.

Well, after 6 months, it was still gone so started posting how I did it.

They do not go in the eye. Just rub on the eyelash area and red areas.

This ingredient is called a Quat and kills staphylococcus. That is one of the causes of Blepharitis that is mentioned.

Honjon, on this site used the wipes in the UK and they had Benzalkonium Chloride in them. Look him up too.

I tore each handwipe called, Wet Ones, (with .3% Benzethonium Chloride) into 8 strips and used one on tip of finger to do the eyelash area. I did it 4 times a day for just a week and a half then went down to 3 times a day. I felt better is the reason I went down. I then went down to 2 times a day for a couple of months.

It does take a while as not much meds in them.

    Hope this info helps you.
