Had the masupilization surgery done and the cyst keeps going up and down, is this forever?

I have been struggling with a bartholin cyst for almost two years. I've had it drained , I've had the masupilization procedure done and it still comes back. It's like it flares up and goes down and goes up and goes down. Is this life as I know it now? No pain but a small egg shape that will just grow and show up randomly and than go away when it wants to? I am not in pain but my self esteem is going down the drain. I want to get back to normalcy and I want to feel like a beautiful normal woman who can function normally down there. Currently it's swollen; no pain, tried sex this morning but due to the fact it was bigger I was turned off. I can't keep going like this. Has anyone had the masuperlizaion done and had this ongoing issue after. That surgery was already invasive and painful and hard enough and for what... Seems like for nothing. So how is one to know where to go from here ? Gland removal? More baths? Pop it repeatedly ( one girl said she does this and it seems awful )

    Hi! I can really relate to your story. I had 4 accesses one a row late 2015.Underwent surgery to babe the gland removed plus marsupalisation and all was well for a year. I then got another abscess in Jan this year and another in March.Was surprised to get them again given the consultant was convinced she had got all the gland out.Allegedly though, if gland cells are left behind, they can continue to produce fluid. Then had a word catheter it in (which fell out after 7 days) and another which lasted all of 12 hours. I then felt another come up a few weeks ago, but luckily that resolved itself.

    I do wish more was known about these glands/cysts/accesses but sadly even tube consultant admitted 'they are tricky to treat'.

      My doctor refused to even consider the removal of the Gland because im only 26 but i've been getting them non-stop for 8 months now with only a couple days break inbetween cysts.

      Finally had one that was lanced and a catether place (whiched stay in for 3 WEEKS) thank god. Apparently if the catether is not placed high enough on the cyst then it has a higher chance of falling out and the likihood of ir returning is greater if the catether doesnt stay in for more than 10 days because it hasnt had enough time to heal.

      I only had my catether removed yesterday so i can give an update in a couples weeks.

    Thank you for sharing girl. They are tricky and I've finally gotten to the point where I need some support. Kids and husband at home just can't understand , not there fault. I'm looking at serrapeptase to try , maybe look into it chicka

      I've tried all those tablets but nothing worked. Ultimately if the duct gets blocked, it's unlikely anything other than physically opening it will help...and even then, who knows how long for. Sorry... being a pessimist,but that's become my reality... hopefully it won't be yours!

    I've had a masupilization last November after my 13th abscess. When getting I asked the doc will it be gone forever. He couldn't give me a straight answer. Then in January it was back. Then last month it was back and 1 week later it was back. Worst pain I've ever been through with my last one that the doc wanted to call an ambulance for me. I asked my GP is I will always suffer and he said yes more then likely its some thing my body is prone to. So I'm just going to wait for my next one and go straight to hospital instead of suffering at home for days waiting for it to burst. I will be enquiring next time about getting the gland removed. I'm 28 and cannot be going through this for the rest of my life. None of the home remedies work for me. I've tried them all. When its ready to go it will go nothing helps with me.

    I had a marsupialization done on my cyst a couple of years ago and I am still suffering with it, it has basically ruined my sex life. I have noticed that sex is what causes mine to grow and become infected, months after the surgery I noticed that every time I get turned on I get a horrible deep ache from my gland and its too painful to carry on to the point of sex, when it came to sex aswell it was quite painful although I have been told this is due to me being too tense during sex. I have gotten to the point where I just dont want to go through all the pain to actually have sex and me and my boyfriend have only had sex once this year. I honestly dont know how we are supposed to end this, there is so little doctors can do for us and they dont know much at all about it, reading about others suffering is the only relief and support I have because no one else I know has been through this. Thankyou all so much for sharing, I would be very interested if anyone has experienced similar to me after the operation.
