Had tooth abscess drained yesterday but my face is still swollen and I'm in a lot of pain. Plz help

Hi everyone, long time lurker but first time poster.

I had a tooth abscess drained yesterday and I'm scheduled to see my dentist today for a root canal follow up. However, despite the drainage, my face is still really swollen and I'm still in a lot of pain despite the ibuprofen and amoxicillin I was prescribed. Is it normal for the amoxicillin to take a little longer to kick in? I haven't seen any change in the swelling on my face. It's all the way up to my eye now and I'm a little bit worried about it.
