Had varicocele ultrasound "everything looks fine!"but it's not.

Hi guys,

I've had what I'm certain is a varicocele on my left testicle for over 15 years, I have a 'heavy ache' feeling which is more prominent when standing and the enlarged veins can be visible through the skin.

My GP arranged an ultrasound and I mentioned that I would like to do it standing, seeing as this is when it's most prominent and also specialists who specialise in varicocele's recommend doing this standing. She basically gave me the whole "You shouldn't read the internet" speech & she has to do it lying. She said all looks fine and enlarged veins are normal nothing to worry about. (still leaving me with 15 years worth of un-resolved aches)

She didn't even ask me to cough/valsalva manoeuvre.

Anyway my question is what usually is the next step? I have a suspicion my GP will just brush it off but if they don't is it usually a referral to the urologist?

I'm jumping ahead but I feel a bit annoyed as I had a feeling it was more of a general scan than actually searching for a varicocele, in fact the radiologist didn't even seem to know what I was talking about.

Thank you.
