Hi

I’ve had a full blood count and a couple of things have shown up. Haematocrit (HTC) my result is 0.451, the normal range is meant to be 0.33-0.45.

My Mean Cell Heamoglobulin concentration (MCHC) was 297, it should be between 300-350. I’d appreciate anyone that can give me some info on what these readings really mean. Thanks 🙏😁.

Your levels are just borderline low, which will most likely still be considered normal by a doctor.  Being your Hemoglobin and RBC count is in the normal range, there is just nothing to worry about.  It could signify a very mildly low iron count, which could be caused by menstruation or even dehydration, which is most likely, especially if you had to fast for your blood test.

Thanks Melissa, I opted for private testing and had these showing up. Maybe my iron levels are  borderline due to my stomach issues as I have chronic Gastritis, it may be affecting the intrinsic factor. I’ll need to keep an eye on my B12.

    Dear Gillian,

Just to give you some general understanding.

When you have doubt on your haematology results you have to evaluates most of the biochemical components of your blood as our blood may representing many type of diseases (up-to 31000)  we are unable to predict or diagnose any condition or developing medical complaints unless we divulge our full blood test/examination (Haematology).

Should you like me to diagnose your health condition you require to provide me with your full haematology results

    Sincerely
