haemorrhoid banding advice
Posted , 3 users are following.
I recently (just under 5 weeks ago) had 3 of several grade 3 internal hemorriods banded with 4 bands.
For 10 days I didnt notice any bleeding after BM but on 10th day there was that sting feeling at the start of my BM which is always then followed by blood on the tissue and down the toliet.
A week later the same happened and then the same a week after that.
Now at almost 5 weeks post banding the past 2 days I have had bleeding with BM which is same
as pre banding.
I was just wondering if anyone else has had this and if it is healing or means it has not worked?
Hoping its still healing 5 weeks on but I have a feeling it has not worked!
Some other peoples views and personal stories would be appreciated as I dont know anyone that had same issues as me.
Thanks.

Hi Faye. Your best alternative here is to change your diet now. Increase your fiber intake to 30g - 40g every day. Also, get some Tucks medicated witch hazel pads and try to get some of the witch hazel to leak down inside your bum after you have a bowel movement. You don't need a lot to go in, but using witch hazel is effectively useless if it isn't directly contacting the hemorrhoids. You just need like a tiny drop to touch them.
Also, if you're overweight, losing weight and exercising more will definitely help. Drinking more water and less caffeine (tea, coffee, soda) also helps as well. Eating less junk like high starch foods and eating more whole foods also helps.
Banding is never a solution to hemorrhoids. There really isn't a once-and-done solution to hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are your body's way of telling you that something is wrong down there. I can assure you that if you don't change your lifestyle, your hemorrhoid problems will never let up and can very easily get worse.

Hi Faye I had three internal hemorrhoids and had two banded. The first time they both worked. I had to go back in and the bigger one they tried banding again and it didnt take work I had surgery on March 7 and the first two weeks are not fun but after that it really isn’t too bad. I go back in to see my Colon rectal specialist on Wednesday, April 6. Bleeding was a problem for me and my hemoglobin got low. i’m anxious to meet with my doctor on April 6 because I still have lumps between my crack. I’m assuming that’s just the three hemorrhoids deteriorating. I have had no blood in my toilets at all, though. Best of luck to you. - Sharen

yes, faye . if you are having a lot of blood, you probably are looking at surgery. You don’t want that hemoglobin to get a below seven or you’ll have to do blood infusions. I would recommend eating liverwurst ( better known as braunsweiger) and liver and onions. Lukily, I love to eat those. If you can’t stomach that, google iron rich foods. . I took notes on my rubber band ligation and also my hemorrhoidectomy. I think in the long run, I’m going to be happy that I had the surgery. I will let you know on Wednesday if my doctor thinks everything looks normal. like I mentioned earlier, I like to know when the bumps/lumps go away on my crack. I believe they are the three internal hemorrhoids that are shrinking down. does anyone on here who has had a Hemorrhoidectomy, know what I am talking about? I hope you get your bleeding under control, faye
