haemorrhoids and fissure opperation

I had botox to my anal fissure and banding to my haemorrhoids for the 6th time 4 weeks ago. I went for the same opperation a year ago, he fixed the fissure but didn't band the haemorrhoids so I said I wanted to go back in. I waited a year for this opp I had done, I was in no pain but when I came round he said he'd done the piles and I had got another fissure so gave me botox, I was off work for a week, I was sore but it was bearable, I'm on week 4 now and the pain is too much for me to handle. When I was going to the toilet I was loosing a lot of blood, now it's okay, the blood had stopped. I'm struggling to work, it's an active job which involves a lot of walking. For some reason when I sit down the pain eases a lot. I'm spending my life sat on a hot water bottle or in baths. The 5 other times I've had it done I've been fine at this stage. Anyone shed any light on their experiences?

I Have piles again after surgery just under a month ago. I'm so depressed and just feel ill never be sorted.

you had banding 6 times?? didnt the surgeon just recommend a haemorridectomy to get it cut off and over and done with? Thats what I had in September. Full recovery for me was really 2 months, thats when I went back to work. I was off work lying down and resting for the first 2 months. Whilst Drs say walking is good and helps with bowel movements etc, it is difficult after any type of surgery down there. Where possible just try to take it easy and dont rush into things. I am amazed at the amount of times banding has been done for you though, must be awful.

Yes 6 times! I am going to the doctors and asking for another consultant. I have only just found out there are alternative ways to deal with piles and fissures!! He hasn't told me anything. A month later I am still leaking mucus

I really feel for you but definately see another consultant. If you are in the UK, just search haemorrhoids / fissures on the NHS website or BUPA where you can see all the treatments that are offered. The mucus did last around a month for me to be fair, but i would definately get a second opinon and definately explore the other options available out there.

Try and get an appointment soon to get things moving quickly.

I saw the doctor he was concerned about me leaking a fair bit of mucus so I'm on two loads of antibiotics which make me feel ill. He said he can't see any infection but it could be internal and said he saw a big pile. The consultant told me that is a skin tag not a pile so i'm not sure what's going on. Today has been by far the worst pain I've been in.

If the antibiotics are really that bad, Gp should be able to prescribe an alternative one. Its probs the side effects of it which are making you feel bad.

Its good that there is no infection. Your getting 2 different stories i,e one is saying its a pile and one is saying its a skin tag! As you have had procedures done before, it may well be a skin tag. Are you not able to get a second opinon or go to a colorectcal specalist?

Colorectcal specalists will be the best people to confirm for sure.

Try to take time off work and just rest at home. Thats all you can do. Drinks lots, and have healthy food but smaller portions. Are you in the UK?

He was going to prescribe me some antibiotics that make me worse so I told him I can just tolerate amoxicillin and some other ones you can't drink on. My stomach couldn't handle them last night but it's settled down a bit.

How do I go on about a Colorectcal specialist? See a doctor?

I can't not work, I'm self employed so no pay when I was off for a week after the opp. I ended up in tears at work when no one was about as the pain was unbearable. The only relief I get is when I sit down? Which is odd as most people say that they can't sit down. It seems when I walk it becomes agrivated. I can sleep as I'm still all night and it's not becoming agrivated through the night. I just don't know how I'm in so much pain. Worse bit is I was in no pain before the opp and yes i live in the UK.

You could try cold compressions ie ice packs which may feel soothing. I know the pain level is high but that may help a little. I assume your previous procedures were doing in hospital under the NHS? If so, you would need to see your GP and ask them to refer you to a colorectcal specialist . If you have a few GPs in the practice may be worth seeing a different GP and explain all of the issues etc you are having.

Ad things are quite as they should be they will refer you to the colorectal specialists ie who mainly deal with issues you are suffering from. Downside is wait time could be long because of NHS. If pain does get unbearable, perhaps go a&e where there will be colorectcal specalists who can look at it sooner?

It is strange you can sit as your putting pressure on your bum, I know after my opp I couldnt do that properly for a few weeks and only

felt relief lying on my side.

I got my "emergency" appointment through today, 24th Jan!!! That's over 2 months since my opp and I am not happy, going back to the docs after Xmas to see if they can get me in any quicker as this is getting a joke now. I passed a bowel movement last night and I lost a lot of blood, I haven't bled for around 3 weeks, feel I'm going backwards, I ordered some Chinese cream which everyone has rated as amazing. All it's doing is burning but I'm persisting with it. I've cancelled my shift tomorrow, £16 an hour, I'm gutted to cancel it as I need the money as I've hardly been working. Mum says maybe I'm just taking a little longer to heal but I'm loosing hope 😫😭

That is long! But thats NHS for you. To be fair it could have been a lot longer...Imagine nearly this time next month you will be getting seen..Hang in there, you have gone through a lot already so you can do it. Re the loss of blood, must be a fissure or something of the sort to cause the blood. I know how you feel about going backwards, thats how I was a few weeks after my opp when I had a small fissure. Just felt nothing was going right anymore.

I am not too sure about the chinese / herbal creams people talk about on here. Personally I would stick to the brands available in the UK. If its causing your burning stop using it, and just get a normal one from your pharmacy. If anything it may just feel soothing to put on. I can imagine its tough when your self employed because of no sick pay. Think your mum is right, everyone is different. You have had it hard with all the procedures and different opinions from the docs, but hopefully come Jan, this will all be sorted for you and you can carry on living life!!
