    Hi Paul!

The blood is usually from the pressure that is set again the wound so that is normal. When it stops varies from patient to patient. For my first haemorrhoidectomy i stopped seeing blood after almost 2 weeks. For the second one I only experienced blood flushing for about 3 days.

Your diet also has a role. If you're constipated you're likely to experience more problems.

What meds are you on? And when is your follow -up?

Co-codamol and cosmocol laxatives. Woke with lower bowel and hip discomfort and had to have BM which showed blood, makes you panic. I have MS and it seems to want to join in with any discomfort that is going on. I am interested in how long this discomfort will last as the laxatives make it hard to go far from the toilet and pain killers Dont seem to touch the pain

Personally I do not like to use laxatives UNLESS I'm constipated. They make it hard for the gut to return to normal and most tend to cause a lot of stomach discomfort. So I'd really recommend you adjust your diet instead.

Also, prolonged use of laxatives cause electrolyte disturbance so I hope you're taking rehydration solutions and a lot of fluids (which you should be taking anyways).

As for the hip discomfort, I am 6th day post operation and I am still struggling with that and I do not know how long it'll last. In your case it's possible that your MS is a contributing factor but I'd suggest you go back to your Dr

Hello. I had my surgery 4 days ago and still to regain regularity of bowel movements. They usually come in pulses of 3 or 4. That's when I need to stop as if I try anymore I'm straining. As for blood it depends on how firm my stools are. The firmer the stool, the more blood. Last night quite a bit but thus morning less than a teaspoonful.

Sorry to hear that. Did you get any antibiotics? Do you make sure to clean your wound esp after a BM because that's really important. I've been using wipes and sitz baths

Two sets of antibiotics to take and some cream for the area. I take a warm shower after each movement and try best to clean area with warm water.
