Hi everyone  I am wondering when it is ok to go and have hair done at the salon.  Sitting in the chair and leaning back for hair wash might not be a good idea.  About a week post op my hairdresser came to my home and gave me a hair cut but not a wash.  Would like the full meal deal soon lol.

I say go for it.  I don't know how sitting back in a stylist's chair for a wash would be any different from sitting back in a recliner.  Many hippies sleep in a recliner the first several days after a THR. Maybe your stylist could put a one-step step stool under your feet if you want your feet higher.  Enjoy the full deal!

Hello Isabelle, Lynn had the right idea, my physio told me to have a step stool to put my feet on and a cushion to sit on so I would not have to strain to reach the basin...all was well, I did this for the next two visits!

Morning Isabelle, Leaning back should;nt be a problem, its leaning forward we have to be carefull with, that we don't break the 90 degree rule. Mind you its easy for me being a bloke, hair washed every night in the shower, hair cut every two weeks by my wife with the clippers. wink

    Hi Isabelle

I had my hair done in the hairdressers 3 times during the 6 weeks

Lying back is OK....no diffferent to going to sleep or trying to lol.

Tell them beforehand but mine were fine and I felt so much better. I couldnt bed forward to do it myself at home. It was such a luxury.....Made me feel slightly more humanwink

    Love

Leaning back in the chair shouldn't be a problem at all.  I was 6 weeks post op when I went to the hairdressers and everything was fine.  I was just careful when sitting down, but the hairdresser knew all about my op as I went just beforehand.  She adjusted the chair when she cut it and they have little stools to put your feet on, so everything was okay.  Go for it, you feel great afterwards!
