hair done?

Afternoon my fellow hippies,

hope you are all doing great today whatever stage you are at, as I have now got my date (monday) biggrin I don't know whether or not to get my hair cut and coloured before or after my opp. I hate going anywhere with my roots showing, yeah I know vanity rolleyes but I won't feel like a back wash and all the sitting in hsalon chairs afterwards, also i have a dental appt. on monday the 4th august, I knew this would happen , but my teeth are important, so what I'm asking is, 1. do I wait to get my hair done, and 2. should I put my dental on hold? it seems strange , but I find it hard to remember how I felt in the first few weeks post opp. so any advice would be welcome,

Love

Lynne x

    Hi Lynne

As a chap, I can only say that I'm sure you'll look terrific  cheesygrin

My recollection is that they strongly advise laying off dental work after the op for a decent period becuase of the possibility of infection which then spreads and of course as you may well be on anticoagulants.

    Good luck

Graphic image to mind there - Lynne bleeding uncontrollably from mouth whilst white blood cells being devastated as infectious bugs grab onto the hip metal work...its good advice, all the same biggrin

      Nice & encouraging biggrin

Mind you, it did take a while for the bleeding to stop when I sliced into my finger while cooking over the weekend.... the anticoagulants doing what they said on the tin!

Hello Lynne, I am 3 weeks post op and all I can moan about is my toenails need painting and my lower legs need shaving properly (I even taped a razor to a plant stick to try and do them). I was able to shower the day after so could keep the feminine side of me happy and hygienic. I would also say put off the dentist, that bobbly car ride will drive you, and your leg nuts!

    Hi Lynne

With out a doubt get your hair done before you go in. It will be the last time you will be able to for a while. I would deffo think about cancleing the dental work also just to be on the safe side. More so if they are going to have to numb your mouth for any reason. If they need to do that your hip operation will be cancled for 3 weeks I asked my surgeon about that before I had my first hip done I had a crown loose and just had it glued back in. nothing else so surgery could go ahead.

Hi Lynne . I agree with everyone on the hair ... especially when roots showing are involved ... looking good = feeling good ...

I would wait with dental work - sitting in the chair might be challenging and painful ..

    warm hug ....

    Hi Lynn

i agree with all the advice

i had my hair done, so glad I did!

I had a shower the day after my op. I had stitches and waterproof dressing made me feel human. How awful to have to wait 10 days!!!

as for your teeth I agree with all the above

    good luck,

    onwards and upward🙋🙋🙋🙋🙋

let eat us know how you get on

Most definitely get your hair done before surgery!

Typically I am someone who is a little lax on, um, grooming in general, and not particularly vain. However, feeling even a little 'spruced up' while you are in the hospital and during the early days of recovery can go an awfully long way. I had mine done a few days before and (in a small way) helped me to feel better during my stay in the hospital.

    All the best,

    Jordan
