I took omeprazole for a year and 4 months. I was told I have to take it for life for eoe. My hair was thin and fine to begin with and I noticed bald spots so I did some research and quit taking it. I haven't taken it for a year now and my hair has still not come back. Has anyone tried hair regrowth treatments like Monat or Rogaine and did they work? Have you found anything else that helps regrow hair?

I have been taking rhizinate for my eoe / silent reflux for the last year and it has worked for me. Good luck to all of you.

i have been taking omeprazole, prilosec, since it was produced, I believe around 1995. I had a really full head of hair then. I didn't realize it but friends were telling me I was shedding because I always had hair on my clothes. Now I am a lot older and have bald patches. My doctor said, yes it is from the omeprazole, but I have no choice, I had to take it or risk Barrett's cancer. So it is a sad fact of the drug.

That is a rapid increase in hair loss but yes it is a side effect. I have been taking it for over 20 years because it is medically necessary and I have very thinning hair I did have a very full head of hair to start with. It is making me very upset to think I am bald but the choice is to have no hair or get esophageal cancer,

I've been taking not only omeprazole' but ursodial as well, I had to take ursodial for 6 months and 0meprazole continuously, I also had a Beautiful head of hair and I noticed the thinning around the edges and the thinging in the front , the back of my hair is bald with at least 3 patches tht I never knew and also the texture of my hair had changed also, it looks as if I've had Chemo, my hair looks burnt and singed at the same time, I was very hurt when I found that I went from Beautiful hair to looking like a chicken head. I decided to cut about 3 inches off, it looks better but it is still falling out a lot, hands full. I stopped taking the meds and if it dont improve I am going to cutt it in a nice short style and start from scratch. I also invested in hair products like , wild growth oil drops, black jamaican castor oil, coconut oil, doo grow hair products, pepper mint oil, etc, plus eat protein, take vitamins and drink water, good luck ladies. Its definitely a process.

Yes! My hair was thick, coarse, healthy, and long, but now it's thin! the hair is so sparse that I can see my entire crown, my edges are spare, and my hair is very dry. I stopped taking the med a couple months ago and hope it will begin to grow back soon.
