Hair loss

Hello,

I just wanted to ask if anyone has the same as me?

My hair has been comming out in clumps & getting very thin, I noticed this around 15mths ago & it's been happening ever since. I always thought it was certain medicines and blamed them, but now i'm starting to think it can't be every one that causes this can it. So now i'm starting to think it may not be the tablets.

So i guess my question is does depression and anxiety cause hair loss or is it the medication?

Stress can cause hairloss and thinning but i wouldn't say clumps, i am on medication which has definitly thinned my hair but the alternative is losing even more hair because of an infection so it could be that.

Either way its worth mentioning to your doctor as it could be something like Julie said. Goodluck x

    Hello Butterfly,

Unfortunatly it's not as simple as just changing tablets, hair loss can be caused by hormonal imbalances, because you feel depressed our bodies do not always produce the right amount of each hormone, It's nothing to worry about it will cause no harm to you but it seems to be the reason for your hair loss..

I suggest going to speak to your gp and tell him you think your depression may be causing hair loss and mention the possibility of hormone imbalance being the reason, He may run a few tests, take a bit of  blood to check and then he will be able to help prevent it.

If it not a hormonal problem then he/she will be able to find out what is causing it and I hope it is treatable.

I wish you all the best butterfly hope it is something very simple to fix!

    Hello everyone,

Thank you for all taking the time to reply.

Well i mentioned it to the gp as i was there for another reason(depression related) & just thought i would mentioned it and it was as if she didn't hear me say it & ignored it totally.

Starting to feel i don't even want to go the the gp these days.
