Hair loss and acne post op?

Hi Ladies,

I have another question, I have noticed that some woman complain about hair loss and acne after a hysterectomy. I'm rather worried as i've got fine thin hair as it is and don't really want to loose any more, apart from that I've always had trouble with adult acne and have only recently managed to bring it under control.

I know it sounds very vain, but I'm worried enough about the hysterectomy as it is and I don't really like the idea of any more add on stress.sad

Thanks for your help.

Hi, my sister had a hysterectomy a few years back and she didn't have any problems with hair loss or acne. You don't sound vain at all, I am also waiting for a hysterectomy and the slightest thing sets me off worrying, in some respects I am really looking forward to getting it done , but the butterflies in my tummy are huge, they go to sleep for ages then someone says something and woosh they are off again..bless them, I hope all goes well for you, keep positive. biggrin (this smiley has such a cheesy grin LOL)

Thanks very much for your reassurance. Maybe I'm just worrying about things to much.

I'm experiencing serious Acne and hair loss now five weeks post op. I'll call my doctor tomorrow and ask what to do. I just noticed this last Sunday when I was washing my hair it just came off like autumn leaves from the tree. And my face looks horrible due to pimples, I feel very uncomfortable when I wash it. I don't wear any make up and I use Neutrogena oil free facial wash. I recovered quickly from the surgery , my stomach is now smaller and the wound healed completely . I started working and I feel good no pain nor tiredness but when I look at my face, I feel like peeling it off.

    Hi Veda1979,

I'm sorry to hear that you are suffering. Have you ever had trouble with acne before?

I've started this discussion as I'm really worried about it happening to me after surgery, but luckily most ladies who do experience it say it's only temporary.

Let me know how you get on at the doctors.

    Good luck to yousmile.

Yes Trish, my doctor told me the same thing today that it is temporary . I never had this acne before that's why I'm uncomfortable with it. I'm waiting to see what will happen later but she also said not everybody get acne after the surgery, so you may not have it  after all. Good luck too and I wish you quick recovery after surgery, perfectly stronger to kick 2015.
