Hair thinning and generally dry

Hi Ladies,

I was wondering if there are any ladies on here who may be post Menopausal. If so did you suffer from hair loss and it just generally looking dry and horrible during Peri ? I was looking for a ray of hope that it had improved and grown back.

I know there are worse things but its so lowering when you already feel like crap anyway. I already take Biotin and also Nourkrin Supplements, I think they have helped, who knows, maybe it would look worse if I hadn't taken them ?

Anyway hope you're having a better day than me. x

hi debbie - i am 7 years post & in the last year, i feel like there is not an ounce of oil left in my body - i was always someone who could get away without putting lotion on my skin & now i am bathing in lotion/oil...you name it! i practically drink olive oil just to get some lubricant into my body - i havent noticed too much hair loss, instead I have a full time job managing my beard growth - oh sweet jesus! You might want to get your thyroid check if you are losing your hair - i am also noticing a lot more wrinkles on my face - UGH!

I know exactly what you ate saying about the beard. it is maddening!

      Hi,

Thanks so much for your reply. I feel your pain with the facial hair . . . Sweet Jesus indeed xx

I am almost 5 years post. I shed hair every day 😞 I have blood work yearly and my thyroid levels are "normal". I have started taking biotin again and also using something topical. I have been on BP meds for a long time and my hairdresser told me that can cause thinning, too. Mine isn't terrible but definitely noticeable to me and I hope will calm down. I mean how can I lose hair every day and not be bald? Ugh. Hugs to you.

      Hi Suzanne

Thank you for your reply. 100 hairs a day is supposed to be average but that seems an awful lot . . I wash every other day and count around 70 that have collected in the shower drain and out of the hair brush ! Yes i've actually counted them ! 

      Hugs to you x

Yes, I shed more at certain times of the year which is frustrating to me.. I want healthy thick hair. I do what I can and try to be happy with it. UGH. vitimins/supplement do help so keep taking them as well as eating other foods that help with hair. I wash my hair every 2-3 days and changed shampoo to sulfate free -- some also claim to make hair stronger which I purchase those brands too. I also do some kind of hair mask with oils in it and it helps with the dryness. I eat eggs but also it's great as a hair mask too.

Always had thin/fine blonde hair. During peri it started falling out bad. My whole body is dry too. My right eye lid is constantly scaly and dry. It's just awful! My blonde hair is now a dull brownish color and it's receding at both temples. I think besides the weight gain, losing my hair has been my biggest confidence battle. I often go out in hats. That's IF I leave the house. I am almost 2 years post. The golden years? Yeah right!

      Oh Nancy,

I feel your pain . . . It really does affect your confidence, I find myself looking at other Ladies hair all the time  and thinking, why is mine so crap . . . Never realised it was a Meno related symptom. Maybe it will get better with time.

i massage coconut oil into my hair and scalp once a week(or more if time permits) and leave it in for half hour or more before washing it off with shampoo. i have noticed that i have more hair fall the week after i color my hair (at home). my hair feels dryer too in this week. i use conditioner every time i wash my hair, i.e., everyday!! the oil really helps with reducing my hair fall. i can notice it within 2-3 applications. genetically, im suposed to have thick, shiny hair 😦 but, my hair actually started to fall when i started to color it due to greying at around 30 years of age. now i am 47.

      Hi Lina,

Thank you for your reply. It sounds like the Coconut Oil might be worth a try. It's just a nightmare isn't it ? I mean just when you feel and look your worst, your hair decides to fall as well ! Thank's so much Mother Nature 

Yes.. I buy mine at the Indian Store and also have a bottle of the cold pressed too from health store.Any yes I always have to wash twice to get it out of my hair. I can't tell but it has to help-- so many people claim that it does so this is why I keep doing it.. Hair is still thin but could be worse if I didn't do a thing, right?
