Just had a shower and big clumps of my hair fell out do you think tis cyst related. Has anyone else experienced this ?

    Hiya, i'm not sure if it is related, i am new here and i know very little about cysts but the same as you i lose alot of hair, could be due to stress

    Hi Tracy 72,

    Have you been checked for hormonal problems as I have an underactive thyroid and this can cause hair loss........... Just a thought, as I am no doctor I just was told that Ovarian cysts can be linked to this also.....

    Symptoms of hypothyroidism may include: fatigue or weakness, weight gain, menstrual problems, lower body temperature, cold extremities, inability to focus, constipation, depression, muscle aches, brittle nails, dry skin, and hair loss.

    I have a lot of those symptoms but pervious thyroid tests have not shown anything.

    My hair is still falling out after my op and its now been almost amonth since the op so I will mention it again when I am at doctors tomorrow

    If you have had a recent operation you can lose hair due to the general anaethetic - it is quite common. It happened to me after my thyroid op - i freked but it is all normal now it is called telogen effluvium - your hair pattern goes into sleep mode.
