Hallucinations and side effects galore

i have been on zopiclone for a very small amount of time, and although my mother has been with the nhs and in psychiatry for over 25 , we have never heard of it, i am only 18 but due to long term mental health problems i suffer from insomnia... so they give me zopiclone, and as usual i picked up a million side effects. the metal taste i detest especially when drinking water or milk. i lose the ability to stand and lose feeling and all strength in my legs , so i basically end up laying on my bed staring at the ceiling as i start to become confused, it is at this point that i start hallucinating, and oh my god its wonderful (most of the time). i have been having horiible destructive hallucinations for about five years, and for the first time ever i saw something so very happy, the air was full of spirals and patterns, and it broke in to smaller pieces which turned into tiny little creatures, and everytime i moved my hand i saw the speed line. but best of all, my spider plant turned into a woman with a very nice hat, and my curtains, a lady with beautiful long hair, i did have two bad ones, an evil clown and my partners eveys turning in to blood filled holes buut it was nothing compared to the glory i felt of everything else. but the wierdest thing is i keep blanking out. im forgetting hours in time, i know i did something i just dont know what. so anyway i wanted to look up the drug and aparently these are all perfectly healthy side effects which i am happy to know, and i also found this forum, where i thought i could share my experiance with you all smile

I too take zopiclone for insomnia - the metal taste is just awful! I carry a packet of those smints round with me.

I can't say I have experienced any hallucinations while taking them, but having said that I take them just before bedtime and the minute I start to get that metallic taste I go to bed and sleep. LOL Doubt I'd be able to stay awake on them to see what I would be like after taking them.

Yeh I become slightly paranoid and hallucinate and have things coming towards me from a distance the important thing is that these hallucinations are coming from your head, so if your scared your going to see something frightning, if you let go it can be very pleasent just tell yourself its not real but more importantly try to go sleep.

The hallucination side effect is quite fun, watching the carpet go into patterns etc, the metal taste, i agree, needs to go

I have had really bad side effects taking Zopiclone. I was taking the tablets for about a week and have to stop it.

I wake up in the morning feeling more dizzy and lightheaded.

I now exercise when I can to help me get a better sleep at night.

oh, it's a relief to know it's not something horribly wrong with me. i've been on 5-10 mg for almost a month now, prescribed by a psych to help restore sleep patterns (a long-term prob, 10+ yrs), and i've been a bit worried by the sights. the first time i used it, i had my first full-on hallucination of my life, the bedroom was full of people who looked like grown-up androgynous versions of the stereotypical evil little girl in japanese horror films, and i was so scared, especially when they were still there after i closed and opened my eyes. then there were a few waking auditory hallucinations, hearing people say my name or hearing music when neither of these sounds were present.

lately, it's just been patterns or lights, mostly when my eyes are closed and within 2 hours of taking a tablet. my field of vision fills with something that looks like when you drop ink into water. it's quite pretty, but still makes me nervous...glad to know it's not a unique occurrence. smile

    Hi all,

I started this treatment at the lowest dose (zimovane LS 3,75mg) 3 days ago - because of noisy neighbour (mental health probs, no social worker, doesn't understand what \"PLEASE be quieter during the night\" means, he clunks about til 3 in the morning and Im supposed to get up at 7am...} It sends me to sleep ok but I have this very powerful bitter metallic taste left inthe morning which takes some hours to lessen.

I~ have spoken to a couple of pharmacists who have no clue WHAT the taste is or WHY it happens. ~It would help me a lot if I knew the why. I'm happy to tolerate it (it is small fry in the grand scheme of things like MS & cancer), but not if the taste means something else..

Q: does anyone know if the taste is just a crappy side-product from the ingredients they've used, or if getting that bitter taste means something more significant is happening in your body because you've taken the drug? I don't want to sound too worried, but \"persistent metallic bitter taste\" and I think of 2 things - stroke and schizophrenia.

Pharmacists advice - see your doctor - durr. She was reading out the PIL.

As to how someone could possibly go about their normal day AFTER taking one of these - I applaud you, you must be superhuman. I cannot see how this is physically possible? wow

The taste is completely normal (well to be precise its a side effect) theres nothing sinister going on smile

    Hello,

each time I take a tablet, each time I experience different hallucinations, and these are SO Intense!

I think many people just do not notice that - they drink the tablet, go to bed, and say to themselves \"and now I sleep...\". And they sleep.

What happened for me, is that I just waited, thinking about my day. And then everything started - I saw a dancing woman around, fire places in the woods and other things like that.

Now, after around 5 years, i had to take the drug again. A sec I took it- a bunch of golden-platelet colored hippos started running into me! With blurring red eyes! Waving their heads and laughing at me! They looked fantastic. And so well elaborated! I remember myself completely conscious, thinking \"what a stuff my own brain can produce under certain circumstances\"...

For another night I had pretty bad experiences - my cloths on the sofa started protruding ugly hairy limbs, growing and spiraling all around... Though it was scary, I fully understood that this was only my mind producing these things... But unfortunately, in my dream, while I was sleeping, I could not make that conclusion.. So it was a nightmare. In the morning, before stepping out of the bed, the shadowy sections of the heater within my room started growing limbs too. But then again, I knew, this was my brain after a sleep-based-on the drug.

Actually, I realized that I can control these hallucinations. Since then, whenever I take the drug, I see something beautiful and extremely finely 3D rendered smile

    best,

    Nora

i have just started taking this drug due to lack of sleep which has now been ongoing for some time now. but reached its peak (aka) now dangerous. i just 2 zopiclone and i feel a litte groggy but fine. reports have been coming in about actions im taking with no restraint and no memory of such things happening. which concerns me, its like having another me run amock with my body. Im also a heavy drinker, another issue. anyway i need to find someone to film and record me one night to see what is what is what. its a strong drug, heck i used to take alot ok K and mandy this is just a controlled and milder version of those.

back in the day when i was with my ex we got a little messed up and took 20 of these pills each (they had some other company name on them) im quite a good person but half hour later i wake up smoking a joint in some guys car and then nothing, an hour later im busy stealing fags from a petrol forecourt in nothing but a bright red trench coat and a suit (still) can't find my shoes. anyway went home for about 7 am got some cash and made my entire family a lovely home baked lasagne all i remember is cutting next thing i know i am in a dark room with nothing but a packet of cigarettes, and the knowledge that thtere is a girl i shoud be worried about and need to find. at this point i dont have any memory about who i am, just flashbacks of lasagne. to this day i have no memory of what happend 20mins after taking that pill. it has been 20 mins now and i feel ok. the moral to this is, yes the pill works yeah it leaves you with a few appealling side effects (the amazing hallucinations) but dont take it lighlty, one too many, or mixed with the wrong thing can cause your brain to go into complete anarchy. So why should i contine going back to something that nearly put me in a coma......because it works, as long as i dont play the silly fool the quality of sleep and life i have is far better now because of it.

I was prescribed Zopiclone after stopping smoking cannabis abruptly after 13 years (yea yea me a silly boy i know). I was experiencing scary, vivid nightmares which were waking me up 10+ times night. All a natural part of the withdrawal 'dream rebound' but pretty freaky none the less. My doc presribed me 14x7.5mg Zopiclone (which i didnt ask for so i was a little confused). Anyway i gave them a go and rather than waking up sweating after 40 minutes I had a good couple of hours of relief. I was actually quite amazed at how quick they helped me to fall asleep, but apart from that i think Zopiclone leaves the system far to quick hence why i still had nightmares so early in the night. Sleep latency was reduced from about 90 to 25/30 minutes. Anyway I gave them up after the 14 days and had a couple of weeks off before the nightmares became (a little) less intense so I was precribed for another 7 days last week. Didnt take one until last night, afterall the reason i stopped smoking cannabis was because i wanted to live a cleaner lifestyle so the last thing i want is to become hooked on sleeping pills. Anyway i took one about 11pm with the intention of going straight to sleep but i ended up reading for a couple of hours in bed. Even though i felt a little drowsy id convinced myself that because of the short half-life id need another one to have any meaningful effect on my sleep. Would you believe it my mobile rang so i was on the phone for another half an hour. After i went to the toilet and the effects really hit me! I actually found it a rather pleasant experience. My legs were like jelly and i was staggering about somewhat although nothing worse than drinking a few beers. I also felt really relaxed, and my vision was effected to an extent although im not sure id call them hallucinations as such but everything seemed rather soft smile. I must have gone to sleep within seconds of my head hitting the pillow. I have had side effects though; metallic taste, tiredness the next day, tinnitus, but nothing like a hangover!!

If you dont like the effects of zopiclone when your awake then take it just as ur about to turn the light out so youll sleep straight through them.
