Hand pain, finger swelling, and 3rd finger "catching"

I'm just looking to see if anyone has had similar symptoms and/or might know of some treatment that might alleviate them.

I have osteoarthritis at the base of my thumb. But what is really bothering me is pain along the 3rd metacarpal (3rd finger and down both the back and palm of my hand). My finger also "catches" when I bend it, near the palm.

My 2nd finger is swollen at the 2nd knuckle, but I don't think that's related.

Heat and/or cold help some, meds do not help. I am going to see a hand specialist one of these days, but I don't have insurance and am currently unemployed, so it'll have to wait.

Edit: I forgot to add that this arm and hand also get really cold in the colder weather. I don't think it's related, but...

Any information you might have would be appreciated.
